ill be in Portland on a Tuesday- Thursday on the first week in August. I need help for take home beers. I saw bissel foundation and allagash. Any local suggestions or must stops for beer or possibly Italian food or must stops?
    Thanks gentlemen.

I highly recommend Paciarino's in the old port for italian, fresh homemade pasta every day. Its a smaller menu, but not as pricey an option as some of the other restaurants in Portland.

You should probably hit Novare Res while in town. Considered a world class beer bar.
I like the King's Head for food and brews (not Italian, pub)
Go to Bier Cellar. They will help you pick out local options you may not have heard of.

Oxbow location in Portland is worth a stop. Can hit Rising Tide easily, great place. While at Foundation/Allagash check out Austin St. In same Industrial park.

You should find Maine Beer Co. in Portland, or you can pop up to the brewery in Freeport.

    Any help is appreciated

Just came back from a week in Maine and one of the real surprise beers I found was 10 Lewis from Boothbay Brewing. A really good session IPA, I picked up a 4 pack while stopping at the brewery and am wishing I bought more. Not sure if it gets any distro but saw crowlers of there Pale Ale at craft beer cellar in Portland.

I'd suggest finding Banded Horn Daikaiju for a decent 'local' IPA. The brewery is located in Biddeford (~20 mins south of Portland) and would be a worthwhile trip.

Agree on Banded Horn, great spot and good beers, if you are headed down there from Portland I would stop at Barreled Souls also. Great stop and very close to Banded Horn.

Bier Cellar on Forest Avenue in Portland is a great place to pick up local cans and bottles- they also get drops from bissell, banded horn, foundation, allagash, etc. throughout the week- usually midday (a good option for avoiding line waits at breweries, or a second option for hopes of picking up The Substance, etc.). Following them on Instagram is a huge plus: They post the minute they receive fresh drops of anticipated brews, so you know right when to swing over. They also send out nightly emails notifying subscribers of what they will be receiving the following day.

Check out Oxbow if you get a chance, interesting beer. I also enjoyed apostrophy (sp?) by SOME, I think they are in Kittery.

Thanks I'm going to follow them. Any idea how often they get foundation cans? Or anywhere I'd be able to find them

All good suggestions above. Two additional pub/beer bars - I'm hearing Mash Tun is excellent - tiny place in the old port. This place - Little Tap House- is just outside of old port and a fantastic combination of better than good pub food and really nice /small tap list. I think they had Bissell and Austin St/Foundation brews on tap when I went. Real nice vibe too -- highly recommended. Good luck!

When you hit foundation, make sure to get growler of epiphany. My favorite of all the Portland IPA crowd. If you get/need lunch break head to Duckfat. Incredible poutine if you like that sort of thing. Cheers.

I don't think I'd be able to make it to foundation. Any growler spots around the town?
By be way thanks a lot to everyone

Nope, in Maine we can only fill growlers at breweries proper - no where else to fill growlers. Womp womp.
Make time for Foundation/Austin/Allagash. They're all in the same spot and make a lovely afternoon.

We get new beers daily, but don't know what's coming in next week, let alone next month, sorry. Our social media always has new releases, especially Instagram. Cheers.

For session beers I roll with MIT Ale (Maine Island Trail Ale) and the Gose by Rising Tide, just a short trip from the Old Port. Enjoyable 4.3% abv and 3.6% abv ales respectively. Just a heads up I haven't seen the gose released in awhile, but the MITA is available a majority of the summer...
