So i've been doing my research on where and what drops when so i think i have the majority of my trip down but i just want a bit of help of when/where i'd be better off going. I'm staying 2 nights, Tuesday and Wednesday night at Golden Eagle in Stowe, i figured i'd be in the middle of everything there.

So my trip looks like this so far:

    Arrive around 1pm Tuesday
Eat lunch somewhere locally to Stowe (any suggestions?)
    Hang out at the hotel
Go down to Waterbury for dinner at Pro Pig and hit up the Craft Beer Cellar/Village market (any chance for Heady SOS leftovers?)

    Wednesday
    Breakfast locally.
HF by 11a (would i be better to go in the afternoon around 3?0
Lunch (parker pie possibly, although it is out of the way)
    Ben and Jerry's Tour
Dinner (any suggestions here as well? was thinking possibly piecaso in Stowe)

    Thursday
    Breakfast
Hunger Mountain or Winooski Bev (both get cases of heady correct?)
    Lunch - Mad Taco
    Drive home

So far i think its a pretty decent trip, but my main questions would be the timing of HF on which would be better/less of a wait, and which place i should go to on thursday to get a case of heady, and hopefully some sip, second fiddle or 14th star DIPA.

Any input is appreciated, especially for some good spots to eat besides the one's i've listed that are close, i'm hoping i have everything covered, thanks all!

Looks like you've got a great trip planned. Glad you've taken the time to do some research as well and it isn't one of those "Where does Heady drop?" threads.

On Tuesday, I'd eat at ProPig, and you can also check out their new brewery behind the restaurant as well (new, as in, less than six months old). Across the street is Blackback Pub, which probably has the best tap list in the area (debatable, but that's my favorite).

Piecasso is pretty good for lunch in Stowe -- pizza is good and they will often have cans of Heady and other decent local stuff on draft. If you're looking for another good dinner place in Stowe, can I recommend The Bench? Usually a great tap list and the food there is fantastic too. Not sure if they do lunch, as we had dinner there, but everyone found something they liked.

The Ben & Jerry's Tour is OK; it's like $5 and it has a long movie, but during the week, they're often in production, so that's fun and there's free ice cream at the end.

I don't know if you're married to Mad Taco, but I'd throw Three Penny Taproom in for your consideration for lunch on Thursday. I like to hit up Hunger Mountain for a case of Heady in the morning (they were selling by the case last I was there around the holidays in December/January) and then go over to Three Penny in the afternoon. Last time I was there, they had a lot of HF on tap, including Double Citra and Abner. They have amazing chicken wings, and the food there is as good as the beer menu. I'm all for tacos, but it's a don't miss place every time I'm in Montpelier.

    Have fun and enjoy!

Awesome suggestions everyone much appreciated. So hunger mountain would be the better bet for a case of heady? Only looking for 1 so i don't need to hit up multiple places. thanks all!

You may want to add the Warren Store after Hunger Mountain on Thursday if you're looking for Lawson's and/or additional Heady.

Also, while you're in Waterbury, you could check out Cork (above Blackback Pub) for SOS/Heady.

Have fun! I'm heading up there next week myself. Can't wait.

Updated my goings to add lost nation and three penny instead of mad taco, completely forgot it was that close!

What time does warren store get lawsons? its a bit out of the way and if its only sip i might pass, as i'm hoping i can get 1 or 2 4 packs before then.

Just made this trip one week ago and your agenda is pretty much spot on. I did take the Ben & Jerry's tour [check out the flavor graveyard] but in all honesty I took a massive dump in their bathroom and then drove up to HF then drove back down to Hunger Mountain Coop to pick up some Sip of Sunshine. Beautiful state, but that dirt road heading to HF had this city slicker like WTF.

When I was up there in November I went to Hunger Mountain at 9, got Heady, and then headed straight to the Warren Store. I'm guessing I was there by 10 and they had just gotten their Lawson's delivery. At the time they only had SOS, but that was when Lawson was on a hiatus from brewing other beers. I don't know what to expect as far as selection this time around.

Crop Bistro is a good spot for lunch in Stowe. Stop by the Reservoir too while at pro pig, they have equally great beers and likely a couple different options. +1 for Trapp even if your not a big German beer guy, the view is killer on a good day.

I'll add my own request for help here...

Anyone know what time Beer Palate receives their Lawson's delivery on Wednesdays? I'll be passing through next Wednesday right around the time they open (11 am) and trying to stock up on SOS.

I'd do Piecasso for lunch on Tuesday (mainly cause I think Lost Nation isn't open on Tuesdays). If you're up for a bit of a drive, the former train station in Morristown has some pretty good food and a fairly good taplist. Pro Pig for supper is a good choice. If you head back into Waterbury the train station there has a Green Mountain café and you can occasionally talk the people working the tourist info there into giving you some free K-cups. I'd actually consider picking up my Heady on Tuesday in Winooski if they're still doing later afternoon cases at the Bevy.

Wednesday, Parker Pie is a good choice as any for lunch. If you don't want to have to double back I'd consider Positive Pie in Hardwick (prefer Parker's pie's myself, but occasionally the taplist at Positive will have some treats - especially if there was a Hill event recently) or Lost Nation on the way back down into Stowe (Great chef at that place).

For Dinner - I'd either hit Blackback (if you already had PP the day before and are set in eating in Waterbury) or maybe take a drive to Mad Taco Waitsfield, or maybe somewhere in Richmond. Good food in the area is not hard to find (if you know where to look). If you got to Hill early enough and really have time and gasoline to burn drive into Troy, grab some Jerky at Brault's, and drive back down into Morristown that way.

Thursday: If you're going to Hunger Mountain, I'd eat lunch at Three Penny. If it were me I'd hit the Warren Store early in the morning for Lawson's and (in theory) already have gotten my Heady a couple days earlier. If you lose out on Heady I'd grab some Fair Maiden and Pieces of Eight at Hunger Mtn.

Other things I'd do in the area is pick up some Cider donuts in Stowe, do some food shopping at the Cabot Annex, spend some time outdoors... Take advantage of the mountains!

Basically across the street from Stowe Liquors where you can get one 4 pack of Heady. Don't ask for more. Toe the line in there, those guys go off easy.

I'm leaving nyc saturday morning 4am. will I be too late to grab heady on Saturday morning.?

any other tips I should be aware of

Focus less on acquiring loot and more on the delicious beers you are going to enjoy at HF and Waterbury. Be in the moment.
