Hey guys, I'm new to the trading world and am currently thinking of trading a 2014 Marshal Zhukov for a Avery 5 monks. My question is if this is a fair trade. The $4$ is the same but the MZ is 22oz compared to the 12oz 5 monks. Is the fact that 5 monks is ba make up the difference in oz or should I be trying to get another 12 oz beer to make up the difference? Again, I'm new to this so any help would really be helpful. Thanks and cheers!
The goal is to equalize "Value" so $4$ is going to be a much better metric than volume. I don't think I've ever seen volume considered
Another goal (at least one I recommend) would be to share good beer in your possession with folks who can share good beer in their possession. Try to find some trading partners that you trust and it will open up a lot of avenues for you and take a lot of pressure off of the logistics of every exchange. Be generous. Be appreciative. Be cautious with your packing. Be attentive with your communication. Specifically regarding the above: 1) Do you want 5 monks? 2) Are you okay with giving up MZ? If the answer is yes to both, you should be okay with the trade. When thinking in $4$ terms, you can discuss making up a difference in locals, or you can forego the issue. No harm in ever discussing with your trading partner to make sure both sides are okay and on the same page. Lastly, USE THE TRADING SYSTEM. Especially as a new trader. It is as much for your benefit as it is for my and other traders' benefits. Enjoy the game and good luck.
Thanks guys, really helpful information! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting "trade *****". I thought it was a good, solid trade, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get advice from the vets! It's really appreciated and who knows, maybe we'll be trading in the future and if so I'll be sure to pack some good extras for the help. Cheers!
Unless it's a "whale" or some ridiculously difficult beer to get (if you can get it from a shelf, even if limited, it's not ridiculously hard to get like the likes of DB Hunah, BA Abraxas, etc.), whenever you get close to $4$, it's never a trade ****. You may "win" some and "lose" some in term of "which is harder to get", but over time with enough trades/trade partners, that will average out. oz4oz should never be considered, unless you are talking about different sizes of the same beer (even then, the $ value should reflect the size). Oh, and yes, 5 Monks for Zhukov 1:1 is as fair as it can be.
