I used to post a lot on this forum, but not so much since the site changed. Nonetheless, I learned a lot from brewers on here when I first started homebrewing. I now have the opportunity to make some money doing what I love... Thanks you to everyone that shared advice with me over these years!
After brewing beer in my apartment for 4 years, I have been offered a job as a brewer at a local brewery. I am in training mode now, and I have learned a lot. Yesterday, I helped with my first batch (A Wee Heavy that will be aged in bourbon barrels) here are some pics...

This is our 15 barrel brewhouse... We brew two batches every brew day to fill our 30 barrel fermenters. Plans for 60 barrel fermenters are in the works now.

Bottling our red ale while we have some down time in the brew day. We are just bottling in 22 oz. bottles for now to take advantage of the new container law on Alabama. We actually share the bottling line with two other breweries. The manual bottling line takes a lot of time, but we are not bottling huge quantities yet, so this suits us just fine.

Thanks! This is at the Blue Pants Brewery in Madison, Al. Our first batch of bottles went out around the state on August 1st. The brewery expanded about 6 months ago from a tiny system with plastic fermenters and bett temperature control, so we should be increasing output a lot more. The owner also just quit his day job to work full time at the brewery.
I am really looking forward to getting the old system set back up in the new brewery so that I can brew a few of my recipes and serve them at the tap room.

    Are we Facebook friends?

Matt actually lives up in PA, but he is a good friend and he has a really neat device that I hope he gets released soon. We were hoping to get a few of his invention (I can't say what it is until he releases it publicly) but apparently an attorney told him that the plan we had to get his devices couldn't work. It's too bad because what he has is going to be really cool.

Whatever happened to the brewing systems he was going to make and sell?

I think he did make a few and sold them privately. From what I heard, they actually sounded nice. The problem was, most homebrewers don't want to spend as much money as he was asking and most microbreweries already have systems for test batches, and they were really too small for most breweries. I think he also sold some 3 barrel fermenters. His next project is really cool, I just hope people decide it is worth the price he is asking. It ended up being more money than we were willing to spend, but for bigger brewpubs that sell a lot, his idea is awesome.

Intriguing. Please post here when his invention is announced. You did a good PR job, you got my interest.

Haha, no I just remember dumb stuff. Like his DFH120 clone video and you two are friends.

And how about a hint as to his big invention. Has to be a way to cram more hops into beer. I mean, what else is there is this world?

Possibly a way to keep those damn pesky IPAs to stay light in color or not smell sour when you stick your nose in a carboy forcing you to drag it our from under the sink and dump it:confused:

Off topic of sorts.. but I have those same plastic tanks at work... Mine are full of nasty disgusting chemicals like amine's and silicones, but... I have always wondered if they were used in brewing and designed that way..

I have a few new empty ones.. Maybe I should make a late night run.
