Has anybody swung by Hess's new digs in North Park? They are doing a soft opening this week before their grand opening party this weekend. I stopped by out of curiosity yesterday, around 2:00, and pretty much was in their alone with the gang.

I knew they were scaling up big time, but it still is quite offsetting for a Hess Miramar veteran to see the North Park space. Wow.

The Grazias was good; I only had time for one so I didn't try the Ex Umbris (which probably is a good thing).

I went on Tuesday & it was pretty filled up. It's a sharp looking setup. I love the entrance where you're basically walking over the brewery. Very pimp. Beers I tasted were solid but nothing that amazing.

How many batches have they done on the new system?

Their taps are popping up all over town, so they have to have been brewing on the system for a little while now.

I didn't ask, but things were whirring away while I was in there.

FWIW, *all* the staff was quite friendly.

I'm a big fan of the Grazias as a session/starter beer. I really like the Ex Umbris or at least have in the past, but like many Russian Imperial Stouts, it really gets me f-d up unless that is the only thing I have.
