I saw their post last week...looks interesting. Considering I like their other beers I think I'll have to try and grab an allotment.

Ps - you didnt make it any easier OP! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hess is doing pretty interesting things. Made my first trek to the brewery last week and enjoyed all their offerings, especially that Ex Umbris.

Any word on prices for these bottles?

    $15.99 for the 12oz $17.54 w/ service fee.

    $24.99 for the 22oz $26.85 w/ service fee.

Now everyone stop posting. I don't want anyone else knowing about this.

I was really pumped when I read that but the price is wayy to much for me. I'm sure it's awesome but there are much more accessible BA beers for cheaper.

    That price is nuts.

First barrel aged beer at Aurthrian price points? Who do you think you are, Tomme?

I'm sure the tickers will line up, but from what I've heard about their cleaning/sanitizing of their plastic fermenters, this beer is headed straight for infectionville.

$70 to buy 3 bottles of beer from a brewery who has never bottled and released a barrel aged beer? Yikes!

This. I like Hess' regular offerings, but ~$27 for a 22 oz bottle from a brewery that has never released a BA beer is a bit risky.

I look forward to what Hess does at their real brewhouse once it's opened. As far as their large homebrew operation, I'll take a pass. I've never been impressed with their offerings. Grade B product.

I think we will begin to see this pricing structure more and more. Why sell the beer for less when somebody is going to buy it for more? Don't disagree with that in a general sense, but I'm not going to blindly spend my money on beers nobody has ever had either. With no track record, I'm not going to gamble that much money on it. I'm sure plenty of people are, though.

Yeah I mean, I like to tick... but $25 for a 22oz that is only a blend? Pass

I'd like to score a Torulus (straight), too many other things (White Chocolate) to buy this month

If it had only been in the barrels for 9 months, I'd be dubious. But since it spend 9.5 months in them, I'm sure it will be a winner.

I'll pick up a couple, strictly for trade. I don't like to drink beer.

I love Ex Umbris, but that's too steep for my wallet.
