just resolved a couple things at work and feel like an early beer or two within 10-15 minutes of 17th & Welton. Checking websites, the closed so far include Black Shirt, Our Mutual Friend, and Alpine Dog. Instead of hitting a hundred facebook pages, does anybody know who has Monday hours? or a quicker way of fin ding out? I'm talking just breweries, now.
Crooked Stave I believe is now open Mondays Epic, Rock Bottom Downtown, Jagged Mountain, Great Divide are all open Beryl's is open 5-8 on Blake St.
well I found my target in 5 minutes. Within walking distance: Epic, Prost, Great Divide, Jagged Mountain are all open. A little longer haul, Renegade or Lowdown. I'm outie...been too long since I've been at Great Divide
Ended up at Epic. 1st beer: the crooked stave collab, Elder Brett. 2d beer: Brainless on Peaches. Then home to chicken vindaloo from Little India and a Double Jack from a case of $9.99 4 packs from Grapevine's brewery of the month deal. Life is good, even on Monday.
What'd you think of Elder Brett? I had it last year in bomber form and was mildly disappointed... I remember seeing Epic and CS and it was a saison and I about nutted in my pants... and then I had it.
Oh that was for anyone, of course. I was very psyched to try something from an established, solid "big" place like Epic and the amazingness that is Crooked Stave... and I overpsyched myself haha.
I thought it was pretty damned good. I'd have given it about a 3.95, if I rated beers. Curious what you didn't like about it? I will say I have, in the past week or ten days, strayed from my usual beers at a couple of places I've posted favorably about, and have been disappointed. An under attenuated and therefore cloying strong golden, a barleywine high on phenols and isoamyl acetate, and hot, hot alcohol; some other disappointments. So a professionally made beer with no flaws and (in my opinion) an interesting character, you know, it had a point of view, it was coming from somewhere...and brett...well maybe it struck me just right at just the right time. But I liked it. (I liked it more than the Brainless On Peaches)
