Hey everyone, my name's Jared and I'm originally from the Bay Area, although I've currently landed myself in the Boston area for work.

I came across this forum when searching online for some recommendations, and I cannot be more excited to join the community and start making some contributions.

I'm a big fan of lighter Asian beers, particularly from Japan and Taiwan ... if this wasn't already clear from my rather high opinion of Asahi Super Dry in my inaugural review on this site. I've also recently started to get a liking for certain stouts, with a big emphasis on certain stouts ... I love a good nitro/milk/oatmeal stout, but I also have (ironically) began to garner a dislike for Guinness even though I'm out and about in the heart of Boston...

Hope to get to know y'all and grab some nice recommendations along the way.

Welcome to Beer Advocate Jared @sirwaffleshnoz ! Not sure if you’ve had a chance to visit our daily virtual bar, weekly (weekend) new beer tasting and beer style discussions and tastings in The Bar folder.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/forums/the-bar.68/

And while I don’t go into this folder too often, since I don’t travel there or at least haven’t yet as a craft beer drinker, the New England folder may be of interest in terms of beers available and breweries in and around Boston and your region.

I’ve enjoyed lighter Asian beers enjoying Thai food and just in general at my brother’s house or in restaurants. And there are many good oatmeal stouts I enjoy. Not sure if you like Barrel Aged stouts, but Deth’s Tar brewed by Revolution in Chicago is one of my favorites in this or any style category. Select Revolution beers are distributed in Massachusetts, so keep an eye out for them and this beer in particular if bourbon barrel aged beers are offerings which interest you.

Thanks for introducing yourself, and hope to join you in conversations throughout this site.

    Cheers!

And we're excited to have you here! Hi, Jared, and welcome to the community.

I have a daughter who once worked and lived in the Boston/Cambridge area, and during my visits to see her, I came to really like Cambridge Brewing. You'll find great beers and food there.

Hang around the site as much as you'd like. Explore to find all of the great features. The Places feature is ideal for you to be able to discover all of the beer places in the area by doing a search request. Boston is one of the major cities where a list is already compiled for the area. Just scroll down on this page until you get to it. https://www.beeradvocate.com/place/

    Enjoy your time here.
