Just FYI I was next in line a HF yesterday when Abner kicked. So unless you can find someone who got fills yesterday or Saturday you're better off waiting until the next time it is on tap. Of course its not known exactly when that will be, but I'd guess 4-6 weeks.

I think I've tried to trade for this 4 separate times and gotten crickets each time. So maybe a DB Huna, Cable Car, and BA Dark Lord might land me one growler? Pardon me I'm disgruntled in my failure.

I've had no problem trading for it in the past with stuff like BT, Bramble, Arctic Devil, Berserker, Various Cantillon, etc. FWIW.

see, thats my problem. equally rare?! it was on draft for about 3 weeks and available for takeout the entire time. to me, there is nothing rare about that.

I think "equally sought after" is a better description than "rare". Alpine, Kern Citra, already given as examples. PsuedoSue, Societe The Pupil are some others. The list that huskermike12 just gave give you an indicator of what VT people can trade Abner, which is #13 on Top 250, for so it's hard to sway them with just "rare" IPA strictly in term of access and quantity.

An occasionally available, highly in demand, highly rated double IPA that is available for growler fill nowhere but the brewery for fills with a 3 growler limit. Perhaps "rare" is the wrong word. But it's also not like I (or anyone, anywhere) can drive to my nearest Whole Foods and fill up a growler of it.

There's lots of highly rated, sought after IPAs but trading Abner for one seems pointless to me. I'd be looking for a different style.

Abner is very good, but I can get similar quality brews much easier. If I'm going to the trouble I'd go for Ephraim when and if it's available. I liked Susan better as well.

I'm tellin' youz guyz, you normally have a better chance if you offer top quality non-IPA's. Damn, world class IPA's we got coming out of our ears in VT. Offer up quality sours, barrel-aged goodies and stuff we don't got.
