I was looking to get a bottle of Damon but not sure what it goes for. All I find is DB or Port Damon when I search. I have CCB beers. Hunahpu's etc... Would a Hunahpu's go 1:1 for a Damon or is this off? Any help is appreciated. Cheers.
I traded one of my bourbon Damons + civil disobedience 5 for grey monday and black tuesday. Not sure how helpful that is. It seems like its value has been increasing significantly over the past few weeks for some reason, but I could be wrong.
I added locals to my Damon to get DDG just to even up $4$. I think 1:1 with Prop has been done a few times.
I can see B2 Damon trading with Grey Monday, but CD5 is considerably more limited and hard to find than any of the other beers involved. A single barrel blend (less than 500 bottles) of Ann, Art, and Flora that was limit 1/per person almost 2 years ago. As long as you were happy with the trade that is all that really matters, and perhaps you were just being generous. But CD5 is right there with Juicy and Art as one of the most sought after HF bottles, save for Mimosa and Ann which are full on white whales.
It was a little while ago, so the trade value has probably increased somewhat since then. I always find HF trades all over the place, and my favorites from them are rarely the ones with low bottle counts. I'd take a Damon over CD5 any day personally
I think it was $15 a piece, 1:1 grey monday would be a good offer in my opinion. As noted above, Bruery's being so expensive makes the $4$ tough. I don't think there are many people willing to trade $40 of HF bottles for Grey Monday because nearly everything from HF is limited. My most recent strategy was to offer up the difference with other good local beers that were somewhat less limited.
That is why limited beers don't trade dollar for dollar. I don't think anyone would Trade almost 3 bottles of Damon for GM.
Having had another bottle 2 weeks ago (the first bottle we opened back in December was a little young), I can say with confidence that Bourbon Damon is definitely peaking right now - I think this would be a wise time to try and trade for it. Compared to the December bottle, it was thicker, chocolatey-er, and had a beautiful balance of barrel and espresso/dark cocoa.
