I didn't want to clutter the bottle share thread with this, but was wondering if someone could share some insight on the protocol for camping on Saturday night. 1. If the event itself is from 1:30-5:30, when do you setup camp? Are you permitted to do it before the festival? 2. I read the HF Camping FAQ, and noticed that fires are not permitted. What do people do for light after sundown? I am assuming the bottle share will continue after dark. Is it all done by battery powered lanterns? 3. How late do the food vendors stay? Do they leave at 5:30 when the event ends? Just trying to think of how to plan for food during the bottleshare. 4. What time do you have to vacate HF by on Sunday? Sorry for the novice questions, just want to plan accordingly. I've got the basics (tent, bedding, cooler, glassware, etc), but was just trying to figure out what else to plan for. If anyone else has camping questions, feel free to toss them in this thread. Cheers, Chad
You check-in in the morning and set up camp. Lanterns and flashlights are your light source at night. The last festival the vendors were supposed to stay until 11pm but that went to crap with the weather. Usually you must leave by 11 or 12, I think. Things tend to change from fest to fest because of the increase in popularity. So far I haven't seen the details for this fest posted yet.
Appreciate the insight. Kinda what I figured, but thought others might have similar questions as well. Thanks again...
Thanks for starting this thread. I had the same questions and hope more information gets posted in the near future.
They're making "turn-key camping" available for the first time with Show Sherpa, for those flying-in or with no camping experience. No idea of cost, but a terrific concept for travelers. (Reserve on your own via the SS website.) You do need a cooler for your beers, though. No ice on site - Willey's Store down in Greensboro is closest source. They have lots of cheeses, meat, and other groceries for those who don't want to depend on the food vendors sticking around late-night. Lotsa porta-potties but bring extra t.p. - they tend to run out. And a headlamp makes using them a lot easier in the dark!!
$75: http://theshowsherpa.com/rapidcart/hillfarmstead.html I have a tent and I did it because it comes with two cots and my wife is coming with me. She is not what you call a "happy camper."
I went with the Sherpa as well. Great deal! $75 and it's all set up for you when you arrive. Can't beat that.
My buddy and I did Sherpa as well, we don't have camping gear readily available so this is a great option. I sent an email with a few questions, it sounds like they have picnic tables and grills as well. I will try and bring a lot of burgers, no guarantee's though! ISO: Sours and Wild Ales FT: Hamburgers & Steaks hahha
Here is our response! Details should be posted soon to our website: Camping can begin at 9am, Saturday Morning. Fire are not permitted. Light: Flashlight. Propane Lantern. Candles. Head Lamp. LED. I doesn't matter how you light your bottle share because you won't be able to taste anything after the first 25 beers anyway! =) Hoping that Food Vendors may stay later this time to coordinate. I'm working on a special late night activity... it won't be publicized and details will be released on the day of the event... secretive... Try to leave by 12pm, if you can. So that we can clean up trash and such. Please bring in your own trash bags and utilize the trash cans and dumpsters that we have on site. Also - please email info at hill farmstead.com with any specific questions and we'll help you out!
"special late night activity". Don't tell me we are finishing the wood siding on the brewery.... hahaha
I'm sorry Shaun but I can't keep it in anymore...the special event is the Jay Omobono Dance Spectacular!!!!
This is what I got back from Sherpa: Yes we will be at Hill Farmstead, there was just some confusion about some details and that's why the post was deleted. And Yes, we'll have a gas grill and a 3 burner expedition camp stove available for use. Not sure how we'll be setup and usage? Might be worth asking them some more questions on it.
Damn, $75 was worth it: Sherpa Village amenities: Sherpa Village community shelters filled with Eureka! chairs Community camp kitchen including a gas grill and camp stoves Gas power coffee makers with complimentary coffee Cell phone/portable electronics charging station Complementary ice (1 bag per day per rental) Water coolers to fill your reusable water bottle for a day of dancin’!
these are a great option for those who hate sleeping in tents (everybody?). You need trees though, the pack up really small, no poles. http://www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/blackbirds.php
Clever idea...though personally I cringe at the thought of trying to get into one of those things after after a 4 hours festival and massive bottleshare.
Anybody grab a Show Sherpa reservation looking for a tent-mate? Happy to split the cost. I went to sign up the other day and saw they were sold out.
