Been reading a lot about Hill Farmstead. I'd like to try some. Problem is, I don't know much about them other than there are some budding whales in their product line. I'm wondering about some of their other stuff, the regular brews, if such a thing... I'd like to trade for some but I have no idea what the deal is with them. Is it all pretty rare? Is it all brewery only or do they have a distribution? I have the usual suspects, Dark Lord, Darkness, WI locals etc... nothing too nuts. Can I pull some of HF to try or am I punching out of my weight class? I'm reading up on it but you guys are usually a pretty good knowledge base so I thought I'd try this too (again).
all brewery only, distro to restaurants in the area, mostly. It's far up there, but there's plenty of VT BA'ers who could probably help you out. Bottle availability is sorta sporadic, and I don't think they are doing another bottling run until later this summer, so some times will be better than others for scoring bottles. Their IPAs are ONLY available on tap or in growlers at the brewery. If you work it out with someone, that can make for a very tasty, VERY fresh IPA if they are capable of shipping quickly.
All of the Hill Farmstead beers are brewery only. Some of the more limited beers have a release date and sell out and others are pretty much avalible all the time at the brewery. If you go to the website and look under retail you can find out what is currently for sale. The problem you have is that its so far from civilization that most BA's dont travel up there other than for releases. Your best bet is finding a trade right after a release (or a pre trade right be fore it) Everett should be fairly to get as they dont put a bottle limit on it and some of the other beers like Art and E should be gettable with what you have. Good Luck
Drafts show up here and there in other markets (Philly for certain, I believe NYC too), typically kick reasonably quick, though I have seen some places do growler fills. Bottles have shown up very sporadically (Everett, Flora, some others).
If you want to know what it might take to get some, send me a BM. I've traded away a decent amount of HF.
Darkness and Dark Lord would get it out of me. I was just there last month and already looking to go back (what's 8 hours of driving?). It's tougher to get their bottle releases, but to get things in their regular lineup (read: growlers of Everett, Edward, whatever else they have at the time) it shouldn't be super difficult if you find the right trading partner.
