Was just wondering if anyone out there is coming to the Hickory Hops Fest. I'll be there rain or shine, looking to meet up with some BA members out there, might bring a few beers for IP trades or something. Just let me know!

There are a few of us heading down from West Virginia. Not much(or any) local beer though.

Yes, I'm one of the group from WV heading down. Definitely looking forward to it...after a night of respecting in Asheville first!

Should be nice. I'm interested to see how the new stage thing on the square will affect it.

The stage was off to the side last year, is it going to be in the middle? What was so great is that even though I stood in line for a good 30 min or so to get in, it never seemed crowded, never had to wait for a beer.

-I just found this article... There are pictures towards the bottom of the page. It looks pretty cool, but I can't tell how well it would drain water in the event of rain. I know it's just drawings, but hopefully that will be addressed. Kinda hate that it looks like just about all the grass on the square is going to be gone.

The grassy area was a nice place last year to kick back, soak up some sun and listen to the bands went not hitting the tents. At any rate, its gonna be a good time !

I'm pretty sure I heard this year's Hops Fest will be held in a different part of downtown Hickory while they are building that stage, I could be wrong though. Anyone bringing anything interesting with them to share and sample??

-I heard about the new location, and if you look on the Hickory Hops website they show where it's going to be. It's basically the east parking lot of the station (not the big one in front of the brewery) and half of the parking lot across from Berndt's. I'm also assuming the road in between will be shut down too, no way around that, especially when thinking about policing entry/exit. All things said, it looks like a larger area than last events. I just hope the flow is good with no bottlenecks.

I think what you are referring to is parking for the fest. The areas in green on the map are for parking. Festival will still take place on the Square.

-The map with the green on it, or the "downtown map" looks like an old link. (Along with all the brewers info and pretty much everything else on the site except for the date)

-Here is what I was talking about...

    http://www.hickoryhops.com/selectmap.html

"We're expanding! To make room for additional breweries we've moved across the road. You can see the new festival site from Union Square (and all those tents will be had to miss!). Check out the Google map below for the site location. The blue-purple shape represents the location. Click the "Sat" button in the upper right corner to show buildings and landmarks."

    Didn't you get tickets already?

-Agreed. About the # tickets they are going to sell, there is a set amount as far as I've heard, probably in the 4-5k range just like years, but I don't know if that's just prepaid tickets or if they are also tallying at the doors.

-And in sad news... The Event Horizon isn't on tap at the pub anymore, or at least it wasn't on sunday. grumble grumble.

Heard it was on tap at Amos Howards last week. My neighbor just came back from there with tickets in hand and bottles of 7 devils and the barrel aged Impy Pils.
