I've gotta go with Barewolf Brewing out of Amesbury, MA. Awesome people, and fantastic brewers. They brew an enormous range of beers from great IPA's to barrel aged funkiness, to clean crisp lagers, and off the wall concepts like kettle-soured hefeweizen.

Oh, and also Widowmaker out of Braintree.
And Spyglass out of Nashua, NH.

Zip line brewing. Lincoln, Nebraska. I hardly see any mention of them, but I believe they deserve some recognition. Especially their ipa, Daaang!

Start Line Brewing in Hopkington, Ma. They have a nice line up of IPA's and DIPA's
Cold Harbor Brewing in Westborough, Ma. has a bunch of really good styles.

When I return to enjoying our favorite beverage I certainly plan to try some from Tin Barn a new local brewery that has a bit of a buzz around here, Obviously I can't vouch personally they are a gem, but that seems to be what some folks are saying.

Half Acre is one of my favorite Chicago breweries, but I’m not sure I’d give them the “hidden gem” label. ( They’re the 3rd most reviewed brewery in Chicago here on BA).

Having said that an Au Cheval cheeseburger, beers at Half Acre and a game at Wrigley makes for a perfect day for this guy.

I had a chance to sample one of Tin Barns IPAs courtesy of a very generous @motoxrdr21. Really solid stuff, can see why there’s local buzz as the Crop Circles IPA I had was excellent.

The authors were spot on w/ Castle Danger...it's hidden & a real gem

But they misspoke on New Glarus. It really is a gem, but hardly hidden, even if only distributed in Wisconsin.
WE all know about the outstanding New Glarus lineup:stuck_out_tongue:!!

I’ll throw in one from my current hometown.

608 brewing https://www.608brewingcompany.com/ from la crosse, wi. In 2 years they are easily the best brewery in la crosse. Producing solids IPAs and sours and have really upped their stout game. They do other styles as well, but I’m not a huge lager/Oktoberfest fan so can’t comment on that.

Been wanting to go to Selins Grove, it just always felt to far away after a full day at Knoebels.

    Enjoy

I know what you mean about half acre. Obviously not a hidden gem locally, but in terms of breweries nationally that don’t get enough respect / hype I think they can get in the ring with pretty much anyone not named Hill Farmstead. Between innovation and ability to make “proper” beer, they aren’t many that can go toe to toe with them.

my other two suggestions were meant for both locals and traders outside the state

Agree that Plan Bee is probably not well known due to their small distribution of bottles and beer styles, but they really do a great job with everything they do. Always enjoy stopping by my neighborhood brewery

I have been to Half Acre and really enjoyed their quality beers! Heck on a visit to Other Half in NYC, I stopped at a Whole Foods in Brooklyn and picked up two sixers of Daisy Cutter! :grinning:

How many of these other breweries seem to have picked up steam in the last year or two? The two breweries I'm most familiar with (Idle Hands and Schilling) seem to have gotten an uptick in publicity the last year or two and are on the verge of proper acknowledgement. You could argue that Idle Hands is already there as they just received Best of Boston honors. Schilling is definitely well known in lager circles and I think is well appreciated down here in the DMV as well. It certainly hasn't always been this way for these breweries, even if the quality of the product hasn't changed. It's a whole different animal when people actually know who you are and trying your beer versus when a few if any are speaking up on your behalf. But to get back to the author, I wonder whether there is commonality as far as an uptick in brewery fame and they wanted to get this article in before these breweries took off in order to get that credibility.

Plus, that part of town really is hidden unless you live in the area. Nice part of town to live.
