What i am talking about has nothing to do with being made an offer, bought out, invested in..etc. Their family already owns the building. And it seems to me a majority of it goes unused most of the time.

I know, I just meant it from an incentive standpoint. I don't think they have really any desire to expand anything, but if someone throws a bunch of cash at them (for say a share of the business), it might be hard to turn down.

Not sure. I know Doug and his wife also live upstairs, so they have a pretty sweet set up right now as far as work/life balance I'd imagine.

Anyone have any of the new brews this weekend? I was unable to make it out.

I stopped in for the first time on Sunday with my wife and father-in-law and we enjoyed our experience. Cool place with some really warm service that makes you feel like they really want you there. I put the beer quality in the Stickman range, which for me is a large step down from Tired Hands and a small step down from Forest and Main, but certainly good enough to visit again.

Give them another shot for sure. Their beers have been weak for the past two weeks or so, but I've been going for close to a year, and I would put them just under tired hands overall, and much higher than stickman (but i've only been to stickman once, so maybe our situations are reversed)

I don't know if they just did some experiments that haven't worked the past few weeks, or what, but they have been off for sure. They have had some IPAs and DIPAs in the past that have been honestly better than Tired Hands of the same style. On the flip-side of that coin, their Robotic Whales IPA from two weeks ago was a drain pour...

I don't know if this is local bias..or perhaps I need a few more visits to both. In my last couple times to Hidden River (Which hasn't been for probably close to 6 months now) I actually walked away with a better impression than Tired Hands. Maybe because I had heard so much hype over Tired Hands it just didn't live up..who knows. But at Hidden River there were definitely beers I could have done without. I have to disagree though and say that when I went to Stickman, they had a larger # of consistent solid beers.

Yeah, Stickman was a cool place, and their beers were good. Maybe just not my favorite style is really what it boils down to.

Trying to keep the thread alive...

Some good beers at Hidden River this week. A very solid IPA in Paradoxes & Possibilities. Has some funky dank going on with some underlying citrus. I enjoyed.

Also one called Jada Bloom. A really nice house saison that features their house culture nicely. Smooth, easy drinker.

And last but not least, Makeshifter, a black IPA. As big of an IPA guy as I am, I don't generally love black IPAs. This thing was killer, though. Hop-forward, but some nice roasty malt backbone that wasn't overbearing. They hit a home run on this one.

This actually seems to be like the place to be the more and more the weather gets nicer.. (wish they would utilize the outside taps). I went to Stickman the other day..the bartender was saying how it was so nice everyone was going to hidden river.. haha

I liked Stickman, but boy is that a dark, dank and cold place to sit and drink.

I need to get to Hidden River, it's only 15 minutes for me and I was at that building many times when it was Covatta's. So growlers are only 32 oz? Will they fill others growlers (I have a Cape May Brewing 32ozer)?

They fill 32 and 16 oz growlers. And yes, they will fill other branded growlers.

    Not to mention "meowlers"

I kinda of like that about them...haha. I agree it needs a little more...something, but I kind of like the darkness..but I agree it doesn't seem to work when the sun is bright and shiny outside.

I refuse to use that nomenclature, hence why I put '16 oz growlers.'

Made our first stop to Hidden River last night, tried 4 or 5 brews, all of them were really good. A chocolate brown ale that was delicious, wife had a dandelion saison that was also really good. Sampled an IPA that was great. Even the weirder brews they had were pretty good, a hot and sweet ale with honey and hot peppers and a beet saison. Outside deck was open and the food looked delicious ( didn't eat though). We'll definitely make another stop.

Glad to hear people have been enjoying it with the warmer weather. I'm gonna be there Friday and check out thi spodcast they are apparently recording. They are putting on a triple IPA which I'm pretty stoked to try.

Balls. Did you try? I'm sure they'll have it for a minute since I'm sure Doug isn't filling growlers.
