I'll give them another shot. When I first went there in July, every beer I tried was, IMO, terrible. But anyway, back to Hidden River. I really couldn't be happier for Doug & co. for the obvious success. They certainly need to alleviate the lines to get a beer in the cramped bar, especially during the winter months, so it is good to hear that something should be forthcoming.

I'm quite happy with some of their current line up, but I don't drink all their offerings.

The problems with people not using the "Reply" function....I believe he was responding to the comment about Tuned Up, not Hidden River.

Fork and Ale is good, but SO small in my opinion. (Could it be even smaller than its sister Craft Ale House). I really enjoyed it, but to me it felt more cramped..although much brighter than Craft.

Had my own question answered this past Thursday. I stopped in and got 3 growlers. They were out of the large ones, so they filled a crowler for a lady sitting next to me... I was shocked/disappointed. I was like "how did you get that" she said "they were out of growlers so they decided to fill a crowler for me instead since they aren't really busy"

I wish i would have "forgot" my growlers... haha

So its owned by the same people as Craft Ale House? That's a good sign, but if it's smaller, at Craft Ale House it's often hard to get a table during peak hours.

I was responding to the comment about Tuned Up, but it also works for Hidden River as I don't drink their IPAs either.

So do they still fill growlers after the growlers have sold out?

for the most part, but they may not fill some growlers based on availability/crowd.

at the intersection with Yost Street, just passed the Turkey Hill.

if you drive down Yost and cross Main, you will drive right through the front door.

This will be on the sidewalk out front.

Stopped in at Fork and Ale for dinner last night before we went to Hidden River.

Yeah, definitely small, we had to wait about 40 minutes for a table of 4. The food and beers were very good - but the food service was very slow. Which was confusing, considering there is only about 10 tables.

For those that like the so-called NE style IPAs - you should check out Hidden River's "The 200". Had a pint of it last night, and it's probably the best beer of that style I've had so far. Great aroma, good flavor, good balance, and nice mouthfeel.

It's named that since it was their 200th batch of beer, which did prompt a conversation among my friends - frustration at some breweries like Hidden River abandoning the concept of having "regular" beers. If a beer is really good, why not brew again? Our feeling was that a breweries are best served with the taplist split between some customer favorite year-round beers, and then seasonal/ one-offs.
