High expectations, but a very big disappointment?

Because of the onions right?

 

My first PTE was fantastic, the next two I tried never equalled the first bottle. Now I don't see it in Oregon at all so no great loss at this point.

 

Must have gotten ahold of some really fresh Miller High Life!

 

Like most of Lagunitas offerings, great value but too high abv. for my everyday beer.

 

Made my evening.. haha!!!

 

I have to disagree I thought Devil Dancer was awesome this year. A bit abrasive?, sure but I love hops so it was thoroughly enjoyable.

I will have to say my most dissapointing beers have been Dark Lord '11 and Idiot's Drool.

With all the hype surrounding DL I was sure it would be awesome, but instead it was just overly sweet and cloying. Idiot's drool well not much needs to be said about it if you have had it.

The onions, garlic and that strange astringent mouthfeel. I looked at the ratings after I posted that, seems plenty people love it.

 

There are always people with tastes/preferences far different than your own...so, to each his own... but I gotta say, Lagunitas is slowly becoming my "rock" of a brewery that I can always depend on. I've drank more Lagunitas than anything else in the 6 months. Sucks was one of my all time favorite beers and I miss it dearly already

2009 was the last year worthy of the name. When they changed the recipe and "went to 15%" they lost the immense mouthfeel and turned this beer into a complete mess. The early years, and up into 2009 if you aged it for a year or so, were nothing short of spectacular. They should not even call the hot mess they are producing now Dark Lord.

SN Righteous Rye. I was hoping for something in the same spicy, hoppy, and especially aromatic ballpark as the rye IPAs from Sixpoint and Founders. I was very disappointed by the ho-hum hop character.

 

Fou foune, I was so exited and really let down.

 

Schlafley Hop Toddy, Diesel, anything sour.

 

interesting you say this, have you tried it a lot? i frequent it but that last one i got was very mellow compared to the mouthpunch i am used to from this beer. it typically does live up to the hype, maybe better luck next time.

2010 Dark Lord was a total bust in my opinion.

 

Black Note. Certainly good but not whale good.
