High quality, classy coasters?

I've seen threads for glassware and bottle openers, but not one for coasters (my apologies if I missed one). As I now have a fair number of quality glasses, my focus has turned to hunting down coasters of the same high quality (think: the Simon Pearce of coasters). What do you guys use? Of course, there are times when nothing but a good 'ole cardboard coaster from your favorite brewery will do, but sometimes the occasion calls for more than this...

    Cheers!

I used to get these real classy one. Best part is they just showed up in the mail. Usually silver with a colorful design, usually real "AOL FREE 200 HOUR TRIAL"...

Actually, I've made a few using tumbles marble tiles from Home Depot or Lowes. You can get stamps of paint designs on them or leave them be. I recommend sealing them with Mod Podge from the arts and crafts store or just tile sealer, and put squares of felt or cork on the back to protect whatever you put them on.

I make and sell these on my site. Although I currently have them out of stock since I haven't had time to keep up with them. Typically I just make them whenever someone is interested.

Do a search for vinyl LP coasters...cheap scratched records at the thrift store, spray can of acrylic sealer and the means to cut the labels out of the record (band or scroll saw or dremel tool) or if yer not into DIY, there are many crafty folks selling these.

Similar to @JrGtr I use tile coasters that I've made myself, though I don't use stamps, I use the sides of sixers and 4-packs. I have tons of them, but here are the ones that happen to be sitting in front of me at the moment:

They're not that hard to make and they always get lots of compliments when I have people over. I've also given away some as gifts, and even tossed some into trade boxes as extras.

I like those a lot - that's a great idea using cutouts from the 6-pack holders. I presume you use the mod podge or sealer over and under the cardboard?
My one thing on those is that I like to see the natural stone, the cardboard covers most of that up.
That said, I'm sure that there is a way around it, maybe with just a smaller logo cut out, and put in a corner of the tile or something like that. I'll have to experiment next time I make some.

Yep, I just mod-podge them on and use three layers on top to seal it. To keep it from getting sticky, I also use one coat of spray sealant (Clear Coat, etc.) at the end.

The two major downfalls of these coasters are that they are not at all absorbant with all that sealer on them, they are NOT good for use with hot beverages. I am not as interested in seeing the stone - I do have a few I've made that are just stone with felt on the bottom, and that solves both of the previous problems, but I just like having the visual of the beer logos. It's a way to keep some beer stuff around that's less "college" than empty bottles on cabinets, beer posters on the wall, and so on - like I said, I get lots of compliments on the coasters.

Well, wish I saw this sooner. But my coworker just told me she saw a family member do this. Being that I'm getting ready to move, I figured what better time to try it and get rid of some old bottles.

Picked up simple (cheap) white tiles at home depot, along with mod podge and hi-gloss spray lacquer. Using an x-acto knife, carefully pulled labels off and cut to shape. Don't think paper labels would work for this. Then, just apply some mod podge to the tile and put label on. Once dry, do 2-3 coats of mod podge (drying in between) and the same with the spray lacquer. Need to grab some cork board or felt for the bottom of the coasters, but very happy with how these turned out.

Those are awesome, man. Nice work! Totally jelly of the Trillium labels, I so wish I had easier access to those. I've never tried using the thicker sticker-style bottle labels, but I will definitely keep that in mind the next time I have a bottles that uses those.

The ones I made (sorry, no pics) are made from the tumbled marble tiles from the local Big Box home improvement store.
The surface is irregular, which I like. I covered them with Mod Podge from the craft store.

They are field tiles from Menards - I was unable to find anything similar at other home improvement stores, and they are way more expensive at specialty tile/granite stores. As @JrGtr said, I use Mod Podge to coat and seal them.
