I have 4 bottles of this that I bought on the recommendation of a friend. At the time, I thought it was a variation of the 120 minute theme...super hot IPA. I planned on cellaring them from the start. Upon reading the reviews, it sounds like it's really sweet, hot and overpowering (No, I haven had one fresh yet).

I'm assuming these will soften with age in flavor and booziness? I did not like the first 120 minute I tried because it was just too hot. I felt like I needed a chaser. After a year, it was much better but still pretty hot.

Thoughts on 120 minute? Will it get sweeter? Will it tame the booze? This beer seems polarizing in reviews, curious if some age will make it a better beer.

120 Minute is great after a year - I've had one that tasted almost like apple cider. After a few years it becomes, more or less, a barleywine.
I think the Higher Math will definitely mellow out, but probably not get much less sweet. The fruit flavors will fall out a little though. I think it should age well (DFH seem to know how to brew beers to age) and I am definitely interested to see how that plays out. I'm in the same boat - bought 6 bottles - so I'm sitting on that for at least 6 years.

Have one fresh first! I thought it was delicious, but definitely hot. Still, if you have four bottles, why not try one fresh so you have something to compare it to? Then I would try one every two years.

I'm the other side of the fence. I have a couple bottles I'm sitting on for a while. I don't think it can get any worse than fresh.
