On the members page there is a section that shows the people with the most posts.

http://beeradvocate.com/community/members/ - half way down on the right side.

Usual suspects are in this section currently...Shogo, Todd, Jason, Yourefragile, aasher....I was wondering once the reviews / hads / wants / gots gets moved over or the two sections get merged can there be a list of top reviewers? After all, this is more than just a website of people trying to figure out the best beer to drink on a desert island forever. Think of the tickers, tickers are people too. Boom.

I'll second that suggestion. I'd also love to see a list of the top Place reviewers. I believe that's really an underrated portion of the site, and I'd love to see those people get credit.

Kudos to the above ... the hunt for ultimate stores, and watering holes around the world is just as great as the search for brews!

I would like to see these also.

Seems like having a list of highest posting members encourages people to post crap just to get their numbers up. +1 for me!

Oh I agree, I actually think the highest posting member is sort of a ridiculous thing to highlight. It is much harder to have thousands of reviews than it is to have thousands of posts. I was just using the existing feature to point out why it should be done for reviewers, not just posters.

You're in a forum, so the content is tailored for forum activity. We'll be looking at similar features for the rest of the site when the day for that big site redesign occurs.

Yes, but even those reviews actually contribute something to the site. That person has added a beer, affected its overall score, and/or something else. Posting the same inane things in every forum does nothing for anyone or the site. At least now we have the ignore feature, which, along with the "mark as read" option, is the greatest new feature to these forums, IMO.

Can someone point out how to continue to review beers? I notice people are still reviewing, new reviews still popping up on the old website. . .

You can't and people aren't; last review was yesterday. Read the homepage message.

This is also unrelated to the thread.

Will the site and forums be intertwined like before? If so, I can see having a "Top Reviewers" list. RateBeer does something similar and I think it is something worthwhile. Gives the "tickers" and guys who like to review a lot the recognition, which is fine with me (and deserved, IMO).

You must have missed my previous reply, where I said we'll be looking at similar features.

    So you're saying there's a chance?!

What happened to all that "one in a million" talk?

Eh - the forums are what keep many people active on BA. Without them, I'm sure reviews would drop as people wouldn't swing by nearly as often. Forum activity is important.

Yes, forum activity is important; I'm not disputing that. My comments had nothing to do with people who have informative, insightful, and/or amusing posts. Instead, I'm referring to "top posters" versus "top reviewers." Even if the reviewer's words are pure drivel, there's still a score that does something for the site. The same thing cannot really be said about a person who racks up posts saying "+1," "My dessert island beer is X," etc.

I think top poster rankings, though not necessarily very meaningful, are just a neat. You have the data, why not?

Top reviewers would be good, listing beers by the most reviews, ranking reviewer by rDev, etc. All the numbers are there, they don't all need to be updated instantaneously, but why not?
