Excellent Pilsner and a perfect intro beer for their canning line. Can's look pretty sharp too. Got a case in the fridge at home ready for a Strugill Simpson pregame.

I enjoyed it, too. Has some really nice citrus notes you don't usually get in the style.

That's what I love about Shadow Clock from Burial. A very different hop profile than your traditional pils but it works well. How does Highland's compare to that?

Will have to try this. Love a good pils and love me some Sturgill as well. Not sure where you were drinking an NC beer while pre-gaming for him though, I didn't think he was around these parts any time recently.

I love Shadowclock and agree that it's different than most pilsners. To me that one's got more spicy and herbal notes, while Highland's is cleaner and more citrus focused. It's really tasty.

Highland has seriously upped their game recently. Not sure if it is the new brewer, or new CEO, or a combination, but the change is all for the good.

They brought on Hollie Stephenson in 2015. One of the best decision they've made.

Going to have to give Highland Pilsner a try, saw it in the store on my last visit but passed on it.

Definitely a positive! I suspect management allowing the brewer to make some bold changes to their line-up factors in.

Oscar Wong seemed content with his flagship beers that made Highland a success. I've talked to him a couple of times when he visited other breweries. I mentioned that I felt he should look at their Kashmir IPA, as it just didn't answer the bell for people looking for a hoppy IPA. His comment was it was selling fine, and no changes would be made. Fast forward a couple of years, new brewer and CEO (his daughter Leah) and Kashmir IPA has been retired and replaced with a much better IPA (IMHO).

Under Oscar, the 'small batch' offerings in the tasting room were very limited, often only one or two. Now there is a long list. I suspect that loosening the reins on the brewing staff plays into this.

Really great beer, perfect for summer. Highland seems to be quite underrated for some reason.

I was pleasantly surprised with their new Pilsner. I'm usually not a big pilsner guy, but this one seems really well made.
