Jumping on the other thread of :
Highly acclaimed brews that underwhelmed you?

What beers have you had that were way better than expected even though they had high marks in the reviews.

Mine were White Rajah and Columbus IPA. I also was really impressed with Jolly pumpkin Bam Biere. There are others but I picked the three above because I sought them out due to reviews. I now have full access to all of them thanks to an Ohio connection. Hope to add at Head IPA to this list but its not readily available to my "mule"

    Enjoy

Exponential Hoppiness and Parabola both exceeded expectations.

Heady Topper. Went through a lot of effort for this because everyone said it was so amazing and after having it several times it is my favorite beer to date even with trying almost 700 beers this year alone.

Sculpin and Palate Wrecker impressed me.

Also, found a cache of 8 Founders Harvest Ales at a local yesterday and while they're a month out, they still tasted better than expected.

Odell Myrcenary and Moylans Hopsickle. Hopslam is my favorite beer so I guess that one too.

FBS, all day. Call me crazy, but I actually think its rating should be a bit higher. One of the only beers I've had where I can say it's nearly perfect (for what it is). Great taste, great balance, easy to drink, good fresh or aged, amazing flavor profile, yada yada yada......

EDIT: also, Espresso OA Yeti. Call me a sucker for coffee stouts, I guess.

I've got to say my first Pliny was a phenomenal beer. It exceeded my expectations and has become one of my favorite beers.

My first FBS was even better than I expected. Same goes for Blind Pig. Pliny was pretty much exactly as awesome as I expected, but Blind Pig was something else.

I don't know if you consider these highly acclaimed, but these are also hugely under-rated imo: Hanssens Oude Gueuze, Cuvee Des Jacobins Rouge, and Rasputin Anniversary
