This guy is a dick for making her carry those bottles. No free hands on a wet floor in case she slips and there goes not only the bottles but her hip.

Agreed that the dude should have carried the growlers. But you don't need a mule for fills at HF. Maybe gramma knows good beer?

Yeah, I have seen plenty of older folks at breweries on their own, enjoying a good beer or sometimes buying stuff as presents for their kids. I hope to be out there doing it when I am that age (and I feel like I am rapidly getting closer!).

I like that thought but I think there were limits when I took the photo..it was right after the new taproom opened winter 2014-15.

$100 for a 750 of beer is actually disgusting. There is no rationalizing it. I don't care how much time it spent in barrels, I don't care what ingredients were used, $100 for a pint and a half of beer is a goddamn war crime.

A bottle of Oban 14, one of the best readily available scotches on Earth, goes for $70-80 for a 750. That spent (you guessed it) FOURTEEN years in a barrel, the prices of scotch have inflated a ton in the last 10 years and it's STILL cheaper than that bottle of Ann.

Having expendable income to spend on a hobby sure does suck.

If you think the issue here is "well, if people have the cash to spend on it, who cares," you are part of the problem. These things don't exist in a vacuum. If Hill can easily sell a $100 beer, lesser breweries will start marking their shit up too.

    Ok.

I don't mean to be a dick but if you think

    A) Scotch is an example of reasonable pricing, and

    B) Oban 14 is "one of the best"

...then I have to say that I don't think you really know what you're talking about regarding scotch.

You can't read well, can you?

I said, in black and white, "the prices of scotch have inflated a ton in the past 10 years." How in god's name do you read that as "scotch is an example of reasonable pricing?" Is English your 10th language? My statement literally implies the opposite of "scotch is an example of reasonable pricing." That was the whole goddamn point.

I also said "one of the best readily available scotches." Meaning, most people can walk into their local liquor stores and see that on a shelf. Which is not true of, say, Lagavulin 16 or Glendronach 18.

So if you're going to try and play Scotch Professor here after some BS 'not to be a dick' preface, may I recommend reading the posts you're trying to reply to?

Arguing about the pricing of luxury items sounds like a great time.

So... you think I'm a genius?

Anyway if you really want me to start going over your posts with a fine-toothed comb, we can start with your invocation of war crimes to describe the cost of a bottle of fancy beer. A beer which I will remind you that you do not have to buy, and which is still almost certainly priced well below it's actual market value.
