Anyone need 2 FOFA tickets? We can no longer attend due to a conflict. PM me if interested.

This is definitely a personal preference thing, impacted significantly by when you arrive, and what you're hoping to get out of your visit.

The retail line tends to be the slowest of the three (retail, growlers, on-site pours), and on busy days (special releases, holidays, weekends in the summer) it can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to get your bottles & cans to-go. The growler line can be equally as bad, but at least you can simply take your ticket and come back later when it's time to place your order.

If you're there before open, you'll be able to see which line looks worse - tap room or retail - and make your decision based on that. If you want to get growlers, I'd recommend going to the tap room first, getting something for on-site and ordering your growlers. Drop the growlers in your car and then wait in the retail line with your tap room pour.

Thanks for the tips. I'm definitely getting growlers, but a little paranoid about M&C12 running out so I might just grab my retail first to be safe. Especially since I'm in no rush. I figure I can hang out after I get my retail drinking pours while I wait on my growler ticket (assuming I've come to understand everything correctly from you kind, informative people!).

That sounds like a good plan!

Did you say you'll be there Thursday AND Friday? Check their website Wednesday night - they're very good about posting when they're running low on retail bottles to start the day. Also to note, for recent "big" releases (Clover, Damon, etc...) they've been adding a note on the website "Limit is for the duration of the release" so people theoretically shouldn't be double dipping on consecutive days. There's no such note on MC12, so if it's available both days you're up there, feel free to grab an extra.

It started as a Thursday trip and evolved into an overnight! I will indeed be there both days and hope to pick up a bottle of MC12 each day if its still available on Friday. I'm gonna check out Parker Pie and hopefully do some exploring/hiking as well. Super excited about it. I'll be sure to stay tuned to the website for updates. Thanks again!

Just relax, have fun, and enjoy one of the best beer drinking experiences on the planet.

Make sure to drink plenty of lagers as they’re just as top notch as all their sought after beers.

Don’t pass on Shirley Mae either. Might be the best sub 4% beer I’ve ever had. Insane how much flavor and balance it has for its ABV.

You can also grab a growler ticket (takes about 30 seconds) and head over to the to go building. if you miss your Number just go up to the counter and they will fill your order.

I think taking a drove over to Lake Willoughby is worth it if you're looking to explore. It's about 45 minutes from Hill and about 30 minutes from Parker Pie. Really pretty spot. Not sure how much time you will have for hiking, but my wife and I did Mount Pisgah a few years back. It's a good hike and the summit view is awesome.

Great suggestions all around. I'll grab my growler ticket upon arrival.

Lake Willoughby and Mount Pisgah look awesome. I'm gonna try to finagle some time out there. I grew up camping/hiking Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina so I have some immediate affinity for the name!

Was today's release day typical? We were taken aback by the lines for both bottles and drafts. It took a good two hours for bottles and about 30-40 minutes for drafts. Don't get me wrong, everyone was super nice, the weather was awesome, and the beers were great but next time I think I'd forgo the release day trip.

Might have something to do with tomorrow being a national holiday, one with which beer is strongly associated. And a lot of people already having scheduled time off today.

I’d say it being the day before a holiday you had a lot of people visiting starting their long, long weekends. I think the amount of options, top to bottom, could have played a part in it too. Tons for growlers options to load up for parties, etc.

Two hours for bottles in the retail shop seems a little excessive for a day like today.

What time did you get there @Slack

For any HF/Golf enthusiasts... the Mountain View Country club is a sweet 9-hole course about 8 mins away in Greensboro. We had a blast playing 18 today before heading over to Hill. Great layout and amazing conditions.

We arrived at 12. They had already started selling beer as most folks in line had glasses in hand. Not ideal timing on our part but we came right from the airport so not really much flexibility. The line increased maybe 30-40% and held steady for the duration the wait (the tap line held steady at the doorway for the same time period). Tacos were tasty.
