Has anyone ever seen HF bottles make it out to a bar?

It's funny how Shaun is an asshole for two Instagram stories describing him as aloof or not chatty, while Brienne is not an asshole. The same dudes giving him shit about this would be up in arms about the old man at the bar telling the female bartender to give him a smile or act happy.

It's not about defending him specifically, it's about propping up someone on a platform who targets big names to tear down in order to draw attention to herself.

It was the right cause, but at this point, it's the wrong person anymore. She needs to go away, she's undermining the entire point.

Monk’s Cafe for sure, with the collaboration beer they did and some of the standard shelf bottles. I also feel like I’ve seen them at VT bars as well in the past but typically around events like FoFA and such.

Was nice to have Marie as an option for Helles down the street today at pigs fly. [IMG]

I like sp for what they do but having to choose between the two kind of has to be a no brainer. From the perspective of both a business and a consumer. What do you think would happen if someone went into the sp tankpub is with a hf shirt on? I mean I would never knowingly do that, but just hypothetically. Would they be turned around at the door? I still plan on drinking and visiting both but if I’m put in a position to choose.. like I said, that’s a no brainer.

I think most bar and brewery owners know this being a private business. They have since the dawn of bouncers

Thankfully that new lager brewer - Argenta, which looks pretty damn good - opened up in Portland for anyone who gets kicked out of sp.

add Deep Ellum to the list of bars sporting both SP and HF brews tap...
goddamn if that isn't a killer tap list. Wish my favorite seacoast restaurant the Black Birch would get this resourceful.

Yeah that’s a touchy subject. Know the owners and have talked about this. Essentially Covid killed it. When they reopened they only had half the draft list back and getting certain beer was harder. They also began to realize the spot was making more on hard stuff and decided to keep the smaller curated list. They used to have some gems on all the time. Food is still next level and they’re some of the best food in the area. Have been there way too many time over the many years ha

I also never thought the dive bar Corner Pub across the street, my old Sales VP at a former company we worked for opened. Would have Hill Farmstead and not Birch in 2024. I bring this up as he was in no way at all connected to the beer scene!

Speaking of HF - had anybody tried the latest Damon Port release? I was mildly disappointed - muted carb, muted flavor - some back end sourness and dare I say oxidation. I readily admit my palate is immature - so curious what other HF fans think.

I haven't had this particular batch, but being honest, I've always gotten fairly apparent oxidation with their barrel aged stouts and barleywines. I know a lot of people love them, but it's definitely not their forte, to my palate. How their stouts can be like that while their saisons can turn out so beautifully clean is kind of confusing. Perhaps it's just a more assertive hoppiness I'm mistaking for oxidation.

The tap list at BB is still fine -- I was there Saturday and they had Recipricol, Forge, some Tributary beers -- lots of local stuff. But getting Dinner on tap -- or anything from RR -- or a single HF tap would get there beer list up where there absurdly/consistently good food menu is. I find Corner Pub totally hit or miss -- usually miss - but it's got a nice divey /friendly atmosphere - had a Scrugsey there Sat while waiting to get into BB. With HF taps branching out -- we want it all!! :beers:

Oh completely agree! Corner pub food isn’t even comparable to Birch. I just happen to be friends with the former CB owner and friend/surf bud who did their social media/ordered the beer. So we have a bit of an attachment to it. It’s nice to sit out there on a summer night and have a drink/people watch. It’s changed ownership recently but she’s also quite nice and worked there during the recent sale over to her.

It's been years since I've been to black birch, unfortunately. If I'm in that area its during the day which means Anju for lunch. Is it possible they don't do business with vacationland who distributes hill and Russian river? The hill kegs are also 1/2 barrels which not everyone can fit into their fridges.

That’s a good question. I’ll see what I can find out. My friend at VL left for Lawsons so no quick answer from her anymore on VL stuff.

I noticed that Novare Res was conspicuously absent from the list of Maine spots serving HF.

Gotta agree with Sabtos on this whole thing. All of the public claims about Shaun were flimsy at best, and at worst amounted to something that may have required a personal apology for being crass, and nothing more.

Those ig posts from Brienne just come off as extremely immature.

One main reason that Novare will not be pouring HF anytime soon is that Michael Fava works there. They aren't about to jeopardize that relationship with Fava and Sacred Profane. Novare always has SP on tap for obvious reasons.
