I'm down to my last two bottles of E., will be pouring both tomorrow to whoever shows up at our rainy cook-out. One bottle has a gold cap, one has a silver cap. I'm 99% sure the gold cap is from the first release... but not positive. Anyone know how many batches have been released, and if there's any decent way to tell them apart?

This won't really change my plan (continue pouring some for guests/myself until the bottles are empty), but figured it would be good to know what I'm pouring.

The first batch was released on 4/23/11. I remember becuase it was the day before Easter and I was visiting family in VT when I made the trip to HF to grab an e. I believe that release was silver caps.

Good timing on this thread, drinking a bottle of 2012 E. right now. I just went to look in the cellar and my gold cap E., is labeled '11.

I might be wrong but are there different descriptions on the bottle?

Mine has a silver cap and got it in '12. Almost opened it Friday for HFB tasting but it got held back. Glad to know it is holding up OK - thanks.

My bottles that I Sharpie'd '11 onto have gold caps, but I usually have no idea what I'm talking about.

Thanks all. Drank both - enjoyed the newer bottle a bit more (silver cap). The brett in the old bottle had started to cause a bit too much of the band aid thing, though it dissipated a bit after some time in my glass. Both bottles were very tasty, but the balance of the silver cap bottle was a bit better, made it more drinkable/enjoyable.

I got mine last August at the brewery and it definitely had a silver cap. Drank amazing after cellaring for almost a year. So much better than fresh!
