I've never had HF. Nor have I had a lot of great homebrew either. While it may be terrific, unless they increase their output & distribution I'll never know. But I think I'll be able to survive life without it.

I love HF's saisons and really love their Birth of Tragedy.

I envy you. I wish I never tried them, now I have to drive up there and get their beer because I can't live without it.

The 'taters are grown in southern ID; the north is more like eastern WA/OR, including some hop farms. And I'm confident that Shaun could make a fantastic potato saison if he wanted to.

You will rate it highly if you drink it in Philly or Boston too. It is the real deal.

    Underrated/overrated.... ????

I'll judge when they aren't seemingly overpriced and underavailable.... ;-)

Shush with that! I'll pick you up on the way up to HF & we will be converted to the HF RULES crowd. You will never want to drink a beer NOT brewed by HF again.

I've been the first to criticize HF on a thing it two (mainly charging an arm and a leg for a pale ale, Edward). With that said, I think they/Shaun make many of th best beers in th country and they are rated accurately for the most part. Good job stirring up some shit though

Liquid, on your next trip to Waterbury go to Blackback across the street from the Pig, they have a lot more Hill Farmstead on tap for you to sample. I would love to see what you think of one of his DIPA and Saisons. You are only scratching the surface of his offerings.

I certainly will. I have nothing against HF. If anything I'm trying to see the light. I just havent as of yet... I've seen the light with Heady Topper, I'd love to get more on my 7 hour round trip drive.

I'll check this place out when I go.

I made my first trip in November to see what the fuss was. I wish I hadn't as now I want to drive the 10 hr round trip every weekend. Not overrated in my book; simply wonderful.

No. There are a thousand small breweries out there that don't get any hype. There's a reason why HF does.

No way overrated. I find myself liking everything from them, even if its a style I'm not usually too into, just because all their beers are so well crafted. And the hoppy stuff is just amazing, I could drink Edward everyday if it were easier to get.

I think the term is I refuse to put an effort to get their beer so I'm gonna hate.

Don't put words in my mouth, or thoughts where they aren't. I (nor SunDevilBeer) never said hate or any reasonable facsimile thereof... Can't back it up, don't post it.... Zum Wohl!!

Not overrated, no. A great, forward-thinking brewery with impeccable branding and execution.

That said, Ann, perhaps, is overrated (though I haven't had it) and I think HF benefits from BA homerism (though the same can be said about many other breweries).

HF is one of those rare breweries that makes world-class beers across a broad range of styles. Their shelf saisons and IPAs are truly wonderful.
