I vote for Valhalla. That would be awfully convenient.

I agree with the overall stance of your post but wanted to comment on the bit above. Over the years, I've never encountered this. I guess it depends on the Hill Farmstead beer and the "announcement," but I've always just walked into the bar at any time of the day and ordered the beer without it being any different from ordering anything else. The only thing that ever differentiated it was the bartender saying, "OK, that's a good one."

Maybe I overplayed that a little, and maybe I'm still just scarred from being dry humped by the guy behind me at the bar, when they tapped Susan @ BT when that beer was "premiered", but there have definitely been instances I've witnessed. To me there have been The Five Ages of HF in NYC:

    1. Prehistoric - a short period where HF was relatively unknown, and would pop up on tap (at BT). No shitshow.
    2. Classical Antiquity - when people cottoned on to how good the beer was. Some shitshows (I believe that is when my Susan experience happened).
    3. The Dark Ages - when HF stopped coming to NYC. No opportunity for shitshows.
    4. The Renaissance - when it came back, very infrequently. Peak shitshows
    5. The Age of Enlightenment - when it came back in more volume and people realised that if they missed it at place X, in all likelihood it would be tapped at place Y a couple of days later. Minimal shitshow

I am truly disappointed that my experiences have not been in sync with these ages because I'm a frustrated dry-humper tirelessly looking for opportunities. Some guys have all the luck.

With the relative frequency HF turns up these days, the feelings of FOMO are pretty minimal. But Abner.... yeah not going to lie - a bit jealous haha

Yeah love me some Dorothy and Arthur...and Harlan recently was nice...but Abner stings a bit

It's really cool that so many more places are getting HF on tap, which is honestly the best way to enjoy HF's IPAs.

I would guess the dedicated line in Albany would go to the Beer Belly.

After hitting a ton of cool spots this weekend in Brooklyn, I think the dedicated line at Owl Farm would be the coolest

Susan is on at Torst - maybe they got the NYC line since it's not on tap anywhere else currently.

Had a couple of glasses of Susan at Tørst today and something is definitely off. I've had this beer a bunch of times and this is not at all the beer I remember. I found it to be overly bitter and the beer seemed to lack all of the fruity, floral magic that's typical of the HF IPAs.

Uh oh...better hope "he who must not be named" doesn't hear about this, or we're cut off again.

I think someone wrote the same about Abner that was on tap and it not being that same as usual.

I'm currently drinking a Susan at Torst and it tastes just as smooth as when I had it 3 weeks ago at Armsby Abbey in Worcester. Nothing gone bad with this beer....but hey, if people want to think that and that means it stays on tap here for a day or two longer, I won't complain... :sunglasses:

John Brown Smokehouse tweeted they were chosen to have HF as a permanent fixture on tap

If this is true it is outstanding. John Brown's had various HF kegs in the past and I am glad to see the trend will continue. Disclaimer: Queens resident here.

Is there even a dedicated bar area there or do you actually have to sit and eat? Seems like an odd selection to me with the only benefit being that their draft prices are pretty cheap for NYC standards.

All of the choices are odd. If they were going to put a dedicated tap line in Westchester no one would have expected Bridge View Tavern, when the Oath is a few blocks away and you have Growlers Beer Bistro and The Craftsman relatively close as well. With that being said John Brown Smokehouse is a fantastic spot. Food is great. Prices are right. Damn easy to get to.

there's a small bar with maybe about 6-8 seats. it's a nice spot. maybe HF can't send enough beer to keep a full bar consistently stocked, so they had to find smaller spots.
