Planning a trip to Hill Farmstead in April.

I haven't been there in over two years and was just wondering what the wait typically is for growlers. Are we talking about a Tree House experience where I'd need to show up 90 mins before open to be in and out? Similarly, is it like showing up to Tree House during normal hours and I'd have to wait 2 hours to get growler fills?

Basically, have wait times at Hill Farmstead gone down since they expanded the retail shop?

    Thanks!!!

I'd love to know this too as I will be heading up this Friday and getting there between 1-2

Went up this past April on a friday morning/mid-day at it was well over a 2hr wait…but haven't been back since. Plan on heading back up in April as well, so hoping to actually fill my growlers this go-round. Would be nice to hear the wait times have gone down since I have 3 kids in tow and they won't care about the tasting room...

Depends a lot on what is on for growlers/bottles, time of year, day of week, etc. I was there on a Friday about 2 months ago and was out in 30 minutes. Was there 2 Saturdays ago and was about 2hr 30 minutes.

Soooo in general I'd have to say wait times are dependent on what is being released that week + the weather outside. However, from my own experience, ever since the tasting room has opened up, the wait time has gotten a lot better.

I always try to aim for getting up there right at opening, or a little (15 minutes-ish) beforehand. Nowadays, it usually takes me less than 10 minutes to get bottles from the retail shop when I get there around that time, so I head straight to the tasting room for my growlers first. On average I'll end up waiting 30 minutes for growlers but it works out since I like to get a glass of something they have or one of their on-site offerings while I wait.

    Hope that helps.

i would also note that "wait time" is now relaxing and drinking a couple glasses of beer/eating cheese rather than sitting in the snaked line with 4 2oz tasters. fantastic experience now, even if it is a bit of a wait at some times (though i can't say i ever have had a "bad" experience there)

It hardly feels like waiting now that the tap room is open. You'll want to hang out anyway, there is a good chance that they will have a bottle for on site consumption that you cannot buy and bring home.

Growler waits can still take awhile depending on how popular it is that day, but it has been much more enjoyable to visit recently with a lot of the updates. Full pours and the on site bottles are the biggest improvement

my 1st time in oct, showed up 1030, 1 person there. waited in car til 1045, got in line. they opened early at 11. my fill and bottle situation was done by 1130 or 1145. coulda been out if I didn't hang around for on site. it's really streamlined. only real obstacle was how many growlers ppl get. if you can, get there 60-75 min ahead so you're in the 1st 15-20. (this was on a friday, btw)

You never know. First time there it was just the tiny old barn and it took 2½ hours on a Wed for just 3 growlers. Next time was Thurs night of the first Pats game of the NFL season and I was the only person in the whole place. This past time was a Friday at noon and it wasn't bad at all. Grabbed ticket, got in bottle line for 15 mins. Put bottles in truck and had a tasting in the taproom while waiting for my number. All in all it maybe took 50 minutes start to finish. Your mileage may vary.

Do you think a beer like Genealogy will attract the crowds?

Slightly OT, but does anyone know of a way to get Hill Farmstead glasses without going to the brewery?

I don't think they are sold outside of the brewery. Trading would work. ISO:FT (Breweriana)
