I just picked up a bottle of this today and am drinking it now. Normally I don't touch Hinterland stuff but I can't resist trying a new berliner. Anyway, I can't find any information online, and this beer is really hoppy for a berliner weisse. Anyone know if this was done intentionally? I sorta like the beer but I'm wondering whether this was an intentional idiosyncrasy or simply bad style interpretation...
Sounds like a typical American misinterpretation. http://beeradvocate.com/community/t...iving-me-back-to-imports.115903/#post-1711640
Honestly, I don't care much for that kind of hyperbolic beer-luddite talk. If someone thinks that American breweries just make hoppier versions of international styles, they aren't really paying that much attention. Anyway, let's not make this thread into that thread. Anyone know anything about this beer?
Post your question on their Facebook page. I'd be interested to know. It seems the like to dry hop their firkins, but that doesn't mean anything.
Is it better than their saison? It was hard to find the beer under all the black pepper in that one....
Haven't tried the saison, and not really planning on it. I did enjoy the berliner weisse (it's basically a very hoppy berliner weisse), but don't go into it expecting something traditional.
i was told that the brewer admitted this one was a big swing and a miss. that they know it sucks but aren't going to take it off shelves.
It was ok. With so many brewers dipping their toes into the Berliner realm right now though.. it was admittedly a bit mediocre. I've had worse though.
