Picked up a couple bottles of this today. Really a pretty awesome story behind this beer. It is limited, but if you guys come across it, give it a go.

Wow...I was in Osaka at the time, and we had to evacuate the building....And Osaka is (relatively) far from Ibaragi...Thank you for posting this!! I will be on the lookout for this brew.

This came out a few weeks ago I think. I picked some up in February. From what I understand 8,000 bottles made and 5,000 came to the US.

I really enjoyed this beer! Think it has such an interesting and very unusual thing going on. A store still has couple left prob gonna go buy it again real soon.

Kinda crazy that only 3,000 bottles stayed in the country it was made

Not really. Craft beer isn't big in Japan at all. I'm currently in Japan and trying hard to find a decent bottle shop that doesn't sell only Asahi Super Dry.

I'm aware of the lack of craft beer in Japan my point is why not?

I am in Southeast Virginia and just got an email that a local craft beer shop got some in. They didn't get many.

This showed up here around the middle of January. Expensive, but I did find it to be a surprisingly good beer though, so it's definitely worth picking up if you see it...especially given the back story.

For anyone who will be in Baltimore the end of April, this beer will be on tap during the Rare and Obscure beer festival Part V at Max's. I assume they (Max's) must have gotten several kegs, as this will be the second time they've had it on tap there.

It's an interesting beer, though as someone else mentioned, cheap it's not.

Right now I am north of Tokyo in Tochigi. Do you know any good bottle shops around (or outside) Tokyo? I've been to some craft beer bars in Tokyo and Fukuoka but usually pay like 1100-2000 yen for a decent beer.

I'm not on the mainland, but this is the place I've heard to go:

I was planning on heading there in June, when I have a few hours between flights.

Perfect. I've been researching http://beerinjapan.com/bij/ but it seems that they list mostly bars instead of bottle shops.

(sorry everyone, got a bit off topic)

would love to find this guy in a bottle shop & try. i've warmed up many a bud & miller drinkers to hitachino's classic, craft beer advocacy at it's easiest

Found last month at The Refuge in San Carlos, then later at Willows Market in Menlo Park, CA. I'd give it a 4.0/5.0 for taste, but 5.0/5.0 for impressing the beer-buddies.

What about the Baird stuff? I figured that would be easy to find.

I was very much ISO as well. Picked two bottles up here in Chicago about 1 1/2 to two months ago. I really enjoyed the beer and also enjoyed the back story just as much. I still have one bottle left.
