Hitachino 3 Days Beer

For those in Japan - there is good beer to be found in Japan, it's just not easy unfortunately. In Ise you can buy a nice pale ale in a can (CBF looking up it's name at the moment, but it is commonly found in that area at the train station, at the supermarkets etc (it's the area I go to when I travel to Japan)). The major cities always have good beer too, again, you have to look for it. I visited three breweries last trip (Ise, Osaka and Nagoya). I think the brewery Minoh (can't be sure if that's it was the name) produces some of the best beer in Japan - I had a sensational pint of stout on a hand pump in its Osaka bar.

 

Minoh's Imperial Stout was quite good, but I was not impressed by the W-IPA. I also had North Island's IPA and it was average. Better than Minoh's. I enjoyed the Iwatekura Oyster Stout I had. And the place down the street from me has Sankt Gallen's El Diablo on tap--but I don't know if I'll have time this week to head down and try it. I still have a hard time paying $13 for a pint.

 

Found it on the shelves in Portland, ME. Very intriguing story, and a darn nice beer considering what they went through to get it bottled and out!

 

I saw it yesterday, wanted to buy it, but it was like $12. I couldn't justify it, especially when there were sixers of fresh Flower Power available for the same price.

 

If it's anywhere near as good as their white ale I'll definitely pick it up, assuming I'm lucky enough to come across it.
