I had some high-gravs that hit me while I was waiting for the train, and started acting up. Next thing I know I'm surrounded by several angry MARTA cops who gave me the choice of leaving under my own power or leaving with a pair of lovely steel bracelets. I had just enough sense left to choose the former. I made my way to the next station down the line (got lost in the process, of course), and by the time I got there I was a little better behaved.

Ahaha, thanks for sharing! My best was the time I had a guy yelling at me that he was "gonna f#@king kill me" for my beer I was bringing to 1st Sunday. Luckily he was a crackhead and didn't follow through with his intentions because I had no intention of breaking my CCB 750ml over his head but might have had to. Glad that beer made it into some bellies instead of the Marta floor! I honestly can't imagine what people from NY, LA, other big cities think when they get on our absolute joke of a public transportation system.

I have half-assed added my beers. Can't decide what crooked staves or BA Alesmiths to bring. Decisions....

Strongly considering attending, given that I've not been to BSP yet. How large of a turnout is there for this, generally? I certainly don't expect myself to be able to put down the equivalent of 3-4 large format bottles in the 4 hours slated for this event, and also am not sure I even have 3-4 large format bottles that are worth sharing at this point, if the "HMOG" moniker is to be regarded as legitimate.

As a first timer, And going at it alone, I was wondering how clique is this event. I dont want to be shut out, but understand fully the concept of good beer shares. Looking forward to this.

Added my beer to the list. It's supposed to be delivered on Saturday. I'd hate to have to drink 64 oz of Fuzzy Baby Ducks all by myself :stuck_out_tongue:

@jdhowe: crowd size varies, last year was smaller than previous years, but still a good crowd filling the upstairs of BSP. You won't be drinking your bottles by yourself.

@Dil: HMOG usually brings a broad cross-section of the ATL beer community together. While there are "cliques" of folks who know each other well from various events and shares around town, HMOG blurs the boundaries of those groups. Certainly a number of people whom I only see at HMOG each year, though I hit many other events around town. You'll notice folks on the spreadsheet assembling verticals for the event; I am contributing to a FW anniversary vertical, and I don't (think I) know any of the other folks bringing bottles for that vertical.

My best advice to anyone on the fence is just to come, bring a few bottles and have a good time. Really, nobody's going to call anybody out who makes an attempt to bring something interesting--and generally not available on shelves in Atlanta--to share.

And remember to bring cash: this is a fundraiser for GCBG and progressive (aka "reasonable") beer laws in Georgia. If it resembles past years, there will be a silent auction for some items and raffle tickets for beer swag drawings. I believe all the $3000 BSP donated to GCBG this year was accumulated from past few HMOG auctions and raffles. This alone is your reason to attend. The beer share and camaraderie are just the dry hopping in your DIPA.

You don't have to bring 3 large bottles. I've brought 2 the last couple years. I generally don't bring more than I could drink myself. There are usually unopened bottles at the end, anyway.

Love that the FW vert is filling up. We must be sure to blend all of them while we are at it. Only logical thing to do.

I'll be the guy with the beard and tattoos who has strong opinions about malt characteristics. Come find me for the 17

I will be helping run things again this year. In addition to all the beer signs and swag in the raffle this year i wanted to do a silent auction with beer. Bring a couple bottles to drink and please consider bringing an extra beer or two to donate. The winner will walk with a lot of beer!

I'm not going but I'm providing a friend who is with an Upland Malefactor. Enjoy it, I think it blows La Folie away.

A silent auction (or real auction) for beer, with proceeds going to charity, is a fantastic idea!

I wonder what the price point would be for some whalez if the bidders could justify their spending by knowing the proceeds go to charity?

guess I will bring a bottle for the auction as well.

well over 100 beers now on the list. hoping that I get to try a few of them.

I have never had any of the beers that I am bringing so will get to tick at least a few new beers.

Just created a BA account to sign up for this. Not sure I have anything quite up to par in my cellar, but I'll try my best.
