This may be a stupid question but is anyone familiar with this brewery? First time I have heard of them but local bottle shop just got them in.
They are a well known brewery in Belgium (for beerenthousiasts). Their beers are special en really good, don't know anything bout the price you would pay for them in the US though. In january 2015, there was a fire in their brewery that destroyed the bottling plant and storagefacility (with loads of beer). They only got permission from the planning commission to rebuild last month. In the mean time they brewed some collaboration brews with a.o. De Molen and Dochter van de Korenaar.
Their barrel aged project resulted in some awesome experimental ales: armagnac and madeira barrel aged ales were the two I got my hands on. Their regular ales (light, amber, dark) are ok, but you can probably find better farmhouse ales for the price. Check out their description, barrel-aged project at the bottom. http://www.12percentimports.com/brouwerij-hof-ten-dormaal/
I've had a couple things from them. A little pricy, so not a regular purchase, but they were worth the money.
