Neither myself nor my wife will be around tomorrow to sign for a box that is scheduled to arrive.

I chose to have the box held at a Walgreens location close to the house instead of the FedEx Office I usually ship from. For some reason (probably paranoia) I don't want my local ship spot to associate me with alcohol shipments.

I have also had one box taken off my porch after it was marked 'delivered' by FedEx. I'm thinking of having all deleveries that are scheduled while I'm not home to be held there so I can pick up without hoping they don't get stolen.

What types of experiences have people had with Walgreens?

    Cheers,
    Dave

I've had a very agreeable experience with having boxes held at my local Walgreens. The worst that has happened is that I've had to wait for a bit for an employee to show up at the photo/shipping counter. I've had packages held probably 20 times now.

    It's safe. Go for it.

Ya I will second the love of walgreens for shipping stuff. Never had a box held there but I've never had a problem using them for shipping stuff and at various times the local walgreens has been more reliable (for reasons unknown) than going directly to fedex or usps as far as getting things out in a timely manner and without damage.

I will be using Walgreens a lot more now after my "trial run." There is a Walgreens a little over a mile from my house so the convenience factor helps for me as well.

Holiday season (thieves stealing boxes off porches), inclement weather, or if I know nobody will be home are all reasons I'm going to be using Walgreens from now on to hold my boxes. No more worrying about exposed boxes

There's a thread somewhere that details many users' poor experience with Walgreens with respect to FedEx, but I couldn't find it. IIRC, the majority of the issues were due to packages not being picked up on time, therefore your trade partner not receiving your box on time. Sometimes by a day other times by several days. Which we all know, sometimes is not a big deal, and sometimes is. This happened to me my one and only time dropping a package off at Walgreens, so I've vowed to never do that again unless absolutely necessary. I can't comment on having them hold packages though. Just my 2 cents.

I couldn't find the theead myself either.

I still plan on using FedEx office to drop boxes off. Too easy not to. Little to no communication and friendly staff when there is interaction.

I was strictly wondering about holding boxes if needed.

Good to know about potential issues with dropping off boxes though.

    Thanks

This has happened to me. I dropped a box, which ended up in some dark corner, and was not actually picked up until I called them repeatedly to find it.

However - this was actually the fault of the Fedex guy. He moved my box somewhere in their pick-up area... and then neglected to take it with him. So, no fault of Walgreens.

I'd still recommend them for holding your boxes. Never had an issue there. And leaving boxes has been flawless at the Walgreens near me - never going back to the one location where the snafu occurred though.

I think it was buried in a semi-related thread and was a tangent to the original conversation.

The convenience was the reason I used them on this particular day. It's good to know about the holding box option sounding successful for many. I might consider it in a pinch for sure.

Same. I had a box coming to me that was dropped off at a Walgreens and the tracking number didn't show any activity for days. I freaked out a little. Normally wouldn't be too big of a deal but this was the first time I had ever experienced this and the box had a BAA in it. Eventually it all made it safe and sound.

Says the guy who likes black metal. Just an assumption based on your display image though... FWIW this is coming from the guy who was listening to Feeble Screams From Forests Unknown while mowing his lawn the other day. So WTF do I know?

Just a friendly reminder about holds at Walgreens.

The news is starting to cover stories about package being stolen from porches/stairs. Walgreens is easy and there's no worrying about anything getting stolen

    Cheers,
    Dave
