I was in Brooklyn earlier this week and had a few beers at a bar called the Hollow Nickel on Atlantic Ave. They had a house beer called "Hollow Nickel Ale" - but I haven't been able to find any information on the internet about it. Anyone know who brews it? Any chance it's Sixpoint?
Untappd has the brewery listed as Hollow Nickel. Yeah I don't see any other info on the web. I really don't think it's Sixpoint. An interesting comment about it on untappd: "It's some other bock they've rebranded as their own... apparently if you can guess what it is you can win a t shirt."
Yeah. Unfortunately my buddy ordered it for me, so I never got the chance to ask the bartender. Are "house beers" a common thing in NYC?
It maybe could have been a lager. I would have described as an average Amber Ale with not much hop flavor.
Oh and the only reason I was speculating maybe Sixpoint was since they had done events with them before: http://sixpoint.com/blog/recent/the-atlantic-antic-amber-returns/
Yeah I think just because that bar is in the Atlantic ave area of Brooklyn is why they were included for that event.
Given the description of the place, could definitely be a possibility: http://www.heartlandbrewery.com/greenpoint-beer-works-one-brewery-many-beers/
I used to live a few blocks from there - I would almost bet money its a Greenpoint/Kelso thing. They already do a beer at the Barclay's Center for example - VIP section.
In fact I was just at Brooklyn Bowl the other night and they too get a special beer from Kelso/Greenpoint...
