I am new to the area but it looks like I missed a good time at Holy Grale on NYE. Did anyone end up going to this party? What was it like and was it worth the cost? I got over there on New Year's Day for a couple of great beers that I have wanted to try for some time, but I guess were leftovers from the previous night's party.
I saw they are doing a similar party this year for nye. Anyone have feedback from last year's party? 5 courses with beer pairing sounds pretty good but I haven'the heard anything about any previous years. Anything would help.
I went last year, and it was absurd. They advertised six courses, but it was closer to 9 or 10, All courses came with a full beer (8 or more ounces), and other beers were available for purchase (lpf, fou, cbs, zd, bcbs, etc). My wife and I bought a bottle of lpf, several fou and cbs pours, and there was also a sparkling wine (it was not champagne) toast about midnight. Everything was tasty, but the provided quantities were way too much. I think we left with the equivalent of 10 full beers on our table (none of which were fou, cbs or lpf). If you needed even more to drink, all day ipa was unlimited pours. Last year, almost everything was still available the next day (if not everything) and I returned to clean up on the fou, lpf and cbs. Tldr, it was good, but too much food and beer, and our ending tab for two was about $350.
Great feedback! Thanks man. I hit up St Sours day for a couple of drinks. Fun event. I also went last year for New Years day for CBS and a couple others which made me think it was the leftovers from NYE. Really appreciate the info.
Curious how this ended up. The New Year's Day tap list last year was incredible. Wondered if something similar should be expected this year.
good list, for sure, but not a bunch of crazy beers like last year. a few great ones, i think, but not like fou and cbs. tried to tone it down after the madness of last year. it's basically the usual HG tap list (which is to say, awesome) with a few special ones sprinkled in.
