I tried the lambic tonight and it looks like 5 gallons will be coming out as soon as we find time to brew the refill batch.

I have no problem with getting a Homebrew as an extra. Just tell me a little about it and I'm more than happy to try it.

6 month IPA is the best though...

I love homebrews as extras. I've only gotten them twice. Both times they were solid beers also.

Mark me as a "love to get home brew" as well but I'll go beyond the concept of it just being free beer.

I don't home brew yet as I just don't have the space with the current domicile but I do pickle quite a bit in the corresponding seasons so I can relate. At least for me, there's a certain "closeness" in sharing something that you have crafted with your own two hands. It could be my romanticizing, but it feels more personal and generous and I always feel very privileged to have the opportunity to try someone's work.

The majority of home brews that I've had haven't been worth drinking. Let's face it, there are a select number of BAs who brew beer worthy of bottling.

I have received homebrews as extras twice. They were better than the beers at the core of the trade! I have also received a homebrew as a trade; that was one of the best beers I have ever had. I figure if someone makes a solid homebrew, they should include it.

I agree completely and great avatar, that skit was hilarious.

Thanks! It goes down as one of my SNL top ten.

I'm always happy to get homebrew, and will occasionally send it out. Generally I'll only include it as an extra when there are other, commercial, extras as well, but sometimes for IP trades I'll only include homebrew.

Oh, and I only give it away if I'm happy with it, and genuinely think it will be enjoyed. That should go without saying.

I would love to see home brew as an extra. As a novice home brewer myself, I love to taste other peoples hard work and creative ideas for beers or takes on styles. I can see if your not a home brewer how you would prefer professional stuff, but not me.

I cannot remember if I have sent you home brew or not. When ever possible I will try to sneak some in the packages I send out

You sure did and it was in the aforementioned ridiculously good camp! It was a strong wild ale - something a little unique and almost sort of a sour/quad blend if I remember right.

I love getting homebrews as extras. Having done a bit of brewing myself, I know the love that goes into each batch. In fact, I've got a homebrewed gooseberry lambic in my cellar that I got as an extra and have been waiting for the right moment to open. Can't wait.

I would love to receive it, but agree with an earlier post, I would love to know what it is. As for sending it out, I ask first and then would appreciate some feedback so I know where I can improve.

Just received three homebrews as extras. The bottles were clearly labeled with what it was and estimated abv, with notes on if it was still or not (one is a mead). Always look forward to trying some homebrews if someone is proud enough of it to send it out to people.

I send homebrews out quite a bit as extras usually along with other commercial brews. I'll also only send stuff I think is good. I've only received a couple but enjoy it. My favorite part of extras is trying something that would have never been on my radar.

I've not received any homebrews as extras, but I would be open to it if someone offered. I don't brew (yet), so I haven't sent any. I did once take a Westvleteren 12, put the foil from an Alesmith 750 bottle over the cap, tape it down, and write "Homebrewed rice lager" on the tape. I got thanked for the homebrew, though it seemed a little forced. He was surprised when he took the red foil off.
