While your sarcastic parody of BA's BCBS speculation is funny,
I don't think you should make fun of yourself like that.

As far as my home made variant, I posted it in the bcbs 2014 variant rumor thread, that apparently got nuked, but heres the pic again and where you can get the vanilla. http://www.loscincosoles.com/products/vanilla

Interesting. Assuming the bourbon is 80 proof, and you add 1 oz of bourbon, that would bring the ABV up to 10.46%!

    (8% x 12 oz + 40% x 1 oz) / 13 oz = 10.46...

    did I do that correctly?

Yeah, it was about a half inch that I cut up in to little pieces. The vanilla was still faint so maybe some more bean or more time letting it sit would help with that. The brand was just what the local brew shop had. Maybe brewers best?

my current favorite recipe is 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp bourbon, and 10 coffee beans ground coarsely. put in french press, add 6oz of you favorite stout, cap the leftover beer, and but both in the fridge for 30 min.

press the beer out, pour, and add the other 6oz of beer. it's great.

Hey! I thought they said there would be no math in beer?? But, looks right and probably higher for me. I rarely drink a bourbon lower than 90 proof.

Trader Joes makes a Bourbon Vanilla extract...would be great for a regular Imperial Stout as it really does have bourbon in it

Testing out the coconut now...we'll see how it goes.

At the very least the house smells like toasted coconut which is a nice bonus

This was amazing...too much coconut though as it soaked up a little too much BCBS but that ok.

Not quite. Bourbon vanilla is a strain of the vanilla bean, not vanilla mixed with bourbon.

Ah, so do they add the alcohol into it?

All extracts use alcohol to extract flavor but it is usually a neutral spirit that wont interfeer with the flavor being extracted. Bourbon would totally change the flavor of the vanilla flavor intended in the extract.
