Best as I can recall, most of the Homebrew BIFs were posted in this forum rather than the "*-it-forward" forum.

Any interest in kicking one of these off before the weather gets too hot (sorry PHX folks, I heard you were upwards of 107 already).

Thinking about a dozen folks, shotgun start, 88 oz or more of at least 2 different types of homebrew. Few good locals but would leave that up to discussion.

Send me a BM or reply if you've got ideas for changes to the guidelines - or if I need to move the thread over to the trading forums.

    Cheers,
    Scott

I am a bit BIF illeterate. What is a shotgun start? Do I send 88oz to 12 people?

Edit: OK quick web search answered the 88oz to 12 people. Is a shotgun start where everybody sends at once?

Gah - would love to do this, but won't have 2 different brews bottled and ready for at least a month, more like two.

I've got a Hopslam clone in primary (requires two more weeks before bottling) and an English Barleywine in secondary (requires 2 more months in secondary). This is what happens when you skip brewing for a month or more! Learned my lesson...

Shotgun start - everybody ships around the same time. Some BIFs are serial meaning that I ship to you, then after you receive mine, you ship to your target, then after they receive they ship to their target and so on...

Yeah, the 88+ oz would be to 1 person and someone else would ship to you.

This is the first BIF I've organized so any tips/tricks/suggestions (via private mail) would be appreciated.

    Can I get more info?

I think I would like to participate, but I'm not sure I'm a candidate...

@JimmyTango - Do you homebrew? Do you think your beer is pretty decent to good to excellent? Do you want to try someone else's homebrew and get your feet wet on a Beer It Forward? If so, this may be for you!

Not trying to be snarky - but if you answered yes to those three questions, you can do it.

Send me a personal mail if you have any other questions, if you go to the beer trading forum there may be some FAQs posted in the * it forward forum.

Dude, I'm so game for this! I've only been brewing for about 1 1/2 years and have an nice assortment of homebrews to antee up. Whoever I get would not be disappointed, trust me I got some really good and interesting stuff. I would love to get some feed back and to try others.

FWIW I think if we want to do this, set a date far enough out that people could prep beers and make sure they are up to par with what they want to send out.

I'm all for this but I'm away working until may 1st, so I haven't brewed anything in almost six weeks (i.e. I'm just not ready). Do keep me in mind though, I love to trade and love to share / receive homebrews. I always offer good feedback too!

I would definitely be up for a mixed homebrew / locals BIF too.

Done a homebrew I.F. here before and it worked out pretty well. I may be game as long as I an given enough time to brew for it.

I'd be game....did one of these last year and it was great! Plus I've got a few different brews that'll be ready in the next 6 weeks.

If this is the shipping window (mid june to july), I'd be able to participate with 3-4 selections.

I'm in for sure. I had a ton of fun and received some seriously kick ass homebrew from AL last round.

How about we target shipping the first week of June?

I've also gotten feedback it may be better to modify the rules slightly:
Minimum of 100oz shipped, minimum of 48oz of homebrew with at least two different ones.

Folks who i'm showing as in:
    Pnell316
    Kenatbeerswap
    JimmyTango
    Dnuggs
    Weatherdog
    Naugled
    Mf1462
    NiceFly
    Cmmcdonn
    Scray24

We could take a couple more but could also go with this group as is.

If you want in, let me know in the next two days.

    Cheers!
