    Hey everyone,

I was wondering what everybody thought of adding some homebrewing stickies, that are permanently at the top of the homebrewing forum. Since you can't search the previous forums, maybe now would be a good time to ask the Bros if we could do this?

The reason I was thinking of this is because I was going to ask (yet another) water profile question, but I saw that somebody else had just brought up the same topic, and I didn't want to hi-jack his post. I just figured that a sticky-post about Water Chemistry would be a great reference as more and more people add to it. The same can go for a Yeast Starter thread, a Recipe/Critique thread, and whatever else gets asked frequently.

    What do you think?

I started to collect some information for something like this but unfortunately lost it all to the old forums. Basically I was trying to put together something like Alewatchers trading tips but for homebrewing. I am not sure about the topics you listed, I was thinking more along the lines of:

    • Read the free online version of John Palmer's "How to Brew"
    • It is probably not infected but even if it is, there is nothing you can do about it now
    • You probably don't need to put it in secondary
    • sanitize, sanitize, sanitize
    • link to some online mashing calculators
    • bubbles in the airlock mean something but probably not as much as you think
    • your first brew should only start in the 1.050 range, anything above that requires more skill to ferment well
    • start small, learn the fundamentals, don't start with a double dry-hopped, imperial, barrel aged...

If others think this would be a good idea and it got approved I would be happy to act as compiler/editor (though I am not nearly as advanced a homebrewer as many others on this site).

Shouldn't be too hard to implement and I expect it would be a welcome addition. As far as where it resides on the Bro's totem pole of site adjustments, well...
