Need to get pictures on mine going again... Comet, Cascade, Galena and Tahoma are rocking it, the rest stopped growing around 6ft and have little cones...

@boddhitree , maybe you should find somewhere low key along a south facing fence and plant a few rhizomes, maybe in a few years you’d have a little stash similar to what @wasatchback is talking about

That's a terrific idea, and falls in the "whaddya got to lose" category. :+1:

Harvest today! All cascades. This is early for me, but some are starting to turn brown, so today it is. Largest cones ever, likely due to a better job at thinning early on and perhaps this year’s weather! Cheers!

These are my hops, they are fucked. Now I've looked at them properly, doubt I will get aw single brew out of them

    What is wrong with them?

Yeah, they don’t look good. I don’t have much to offer, but I would have expected to see more cones, nonetheless. Perhaps they are not in a sunny enough location? Cheers!

Are you watering them? How about fertilizer? Treating them with anything? Has it been windy? I had a few do this two years ago, thought it was some bug. Might still be a bug, but we had a high winds for a few days and one of the local yards said i might not have watered enough plus wind damage. I still thing something else was at work too, but since doing my mold and bug methods and watering and fertilizing well, I have not had it happen again.

I finally got some cones! The first 2 years I didn't even get 1. I kind of gave up on this plant and didn't water it very much or fertilize it. Then one day I checked on it and finally got some. This is a ctz bine. They look kind of small. How big should they get? (Sorry for the crappy pictures)

They are in full sun, not that we have had much sun this summer

I don't water them, we have had 10 inches of rain over the last two months, I did scatter a bit of growmore round the base a couple of months ago. I don't think it would be enough to burn them though. It's always windy here which is why I grow them a bit low and along, the last couple of years there is some wind damage to leaves and cones but not too bad.

I was expecting the centennial to be bad because of that aphid infestation I had with them, but the hallertau were spared the worst of it and they are the same

Just picked about 2lbs wet of EKG, Fuggle, and vanguard. Kind of disappoint this year as they all took off well, but some wind a few weeks ago killed off about half the bines... Must get better tie off points going...

Looks like my ctz hops, perhaps mine get a little bigger on a good year but I do find they are heavy yeild ers when all is well.
Mine can get double the size of a beer cap, but not this year.

Who here has vacuum-sealed wet hops immediately after harvest? Did it work out well, or not so much?

My hops came out horrible this year. It's was really hot this summer so maybe that effected them. The cones are not tight like last year. Just picked them. Any clue what happened.

They are dry. Many of mine are similar. Probably should have picked a week+ ago, but didn't get around to it. Working on saving what I can my self.

Harvested mine yesterday. Cascade and Newport. Couple pounds of |Cascade, and a pound or so of Newport. We'll see what it ends up as dry.
Mostly ready, but I think some cones might have been picked early. Still smells great in my basement as I have them laid out.

You may have just waited too long, they dried out too much. In Zone 6, mine were ready to pick about a month ago.

I was gonna say, that looks an awful lot like mine after they're dried.

Rip, why not do an experiment? Vacuum seal a 1/2 dozen cones, freeze em and then thaw em out out.
