Anybody traded for one recently? What has it taken? Also, anybody know what the original bottle count was? I'm curious if this has reached Blåbær levels of whaleishness, or if it might be more obtainable. Also, I've been lucky enough to try it twice, and the first bottle smelled really strongly of burnt plastic, but the second was much more enjoyable - only a hint of plastic. Anybody else experience this?
A guy in our trading group sent an 09 BA Speedway to EUR for a bottle of Hommage. The trade would've been about 6 months ago. Only had it once, no plastic that I could detect and a brilliant beer.
I had a bottle once, it was awesome. This one guy I opened it with said it tasted like plastic when he tried it before, I thought he was crazy.
Opened one about 6 months ago and it was tasty, no plastic detected at all. I thought the wild raspberry added a nice prickly taste.
I said smelled my good man, smelled. Luckily neither bottle tasted like v8. And, while we're talking about said beer - any truth to those old rumors that Hommage will be coming out again?
Full disclosure: I have a bunch of Hommage. I just think its weird that Hommage has to move UP in "Whalishness" to reach Blabaer levels when it has only been made once by 3F... which many agree may be just as good, if not better than Cantillon.
Heh. I'm not trying to be an ass - or at least not a complete ass. The consensus from the active traders I'd spoken with was that hommage is less sought after than blabaer. The two guys who potentially had one for trade that I've spoken with seem to agree with speedwayjim. In terms of taste, I greatly preferred blabaer to the plastic tasting bottle, but liked the second bottle quite a bit more than blabaer. Hence the questions above.
The seventy three times I've had it and 6 sixes I own all look, smell, and taste like band aids. This is all I can offer to this thread.
I've had Hommage twice and the first time it was pretty disgusting. Second was much better as it didn't smell like rotten fruit, vegetables, band aids and plastic.
Six cases left? Work a deal w/ me for a bottle, I'm still waiting on that fucking Fantasy Whale Bottleworks X from SpenceDB....At Tom G's I thought Hommage was right there w/ Framboos and > Blabaer '12 & HF rars. No bandaid in that bottle at all
