Hi Guys, My wife just flew out to Hong Kong for work and will be there for 5 weeks. I'll be visiting her there towards the end of the 5 weeks. What's the Craft beer scene there? Are there a lot of good places and bottle shops? I know Japan has a big Craft following but I wanted to know if that extends to the other countries in the area. Is Cantillon available there? Anyway, thanks for the help!! Cheers, Vini
I'll be there in a week or so, so I haven't had any personal experiences, but I can tell you a few names of a few places I plan to drink at. They are coincidentally all in the same area. I suppose it is a craft beer Bermuda triangle. The Globe The Roundhouse The Tipping Point Hong Kong Brew House Also: The Hop House is in another location and looks to be good. I'll probably also drop in on Craftissimo to see what bottles they have for sale.
google 'timeout homegrown beer the rise of hk's brewing scene' I am at the hop house now and alittle let down by the lack of local brews, but it has a nice selection of euro beers. i was at the globe and tipping point and can say that it was worth it. i really like the beerfrom 'young master' . you could take a taxi out there for around 15 dollars.
To nloetz: Taxi in HK at least costs 20 sth now. Looking forward to see comments from you guys. Know nth about HK craft beer even I'm a local
The Trafalgar Brewing Company is a brewpub in Wan Chai, brewing own ale/stout/ipa etc on site and offers a range of imported beers & ciders. Food also served. https://www.facebook.com/trafalgar.brewing.co/timeline Cheers! Garth
Garth, do you know if Trafalgar is still brewing? Their online information doesn't mention it... Their draught and non-UK import offering is quite underwhelming.
