Question about the tickets. Going back through my bank statements, it shows how much I spent at hoof. Aren't the ticket deposits supposed to get you 5 dollars off the price of beer? I bought two 4 packs of south of eleven at 12.99 a 4 pack. My statement says I spent 25.88. Unless there are plenty of taxes, I think this might be off. Anyone else have insight on this?

They do charge sales tax, I know that... Ohio beer tax is 7%, but given your numbers, it doesn't make sense either way you look at it.

If they took off the $5, likely pre-tax I would assume, your ending cost pre-tax would have been $20.88... Given what you ended up paying, you paid 24% in sales tax technically... Doubt that is right.

But if you paid full price, then you technically underpaid by 10 cents and didn't get taxed at all... Which also doesn't make sense.

Last scenario... They took the $5 post-tax from the bill... If we use the standard Ohio sales tax of 7%, you final cost should have been $22.80

They messed up, but no idea what they did...

Didn't tip. So I got screwed. Ok well I guess for future releases I'll remember and talk to the bartenders. Just a warning to those who go to the release then!

Still 50 available as of 3:50pm. Seems like less people are interested these days (or just waiting for Konkey or Dragonsaddle...) lol

Well it isn't that I don't want to drive through, its just I don't know if I am going to be going through columbus this weekend. This beer interests me a good deal. I might pick up a ticket if they are still available on Saturday.

Gonna slow down a bit if you have a "release" almost every weekend...

I'd prefer somewhat weekly releases rather than extremely limited availability in stores. It gives those most interested the chance to make the trip a weekend event and a fighting chance to get the beer.

Definitely prefer releases as opposed to having them put into stores. Hopefully eventually they do something similar to TreeHouse or Bissell and do releases multiple days a week

Agreed but I guess the brewing capacity is too low. Have they talked about expanding the brewery at all? Feel like that plot of land could be made a little bigger.

The brewpub is definitely the first step. The demand is certainly there. These things take time to get rolling, though.

There's no way they could have multiple releases per week unless they buy a canning line, which I've heard they're not interested in doing. In the meantime, the releases are scheduled around Buckeye Canning availability, which is why they're usually on Sundays.

For those that asked, my review:

Pours a swift, velvet ribbon, like wine. Dark black with a very minimal, dark tan fizzy head that only shows itself at the end of the pour, and only retains a faint ring.

Milky aromas pop fresh out of the bottle, then whiskey comes forward strongly, with a faint spicy hint of oak or chili in the background.

Big flavor of whiskey, especially as it glides down the back of the throat for the first time. Oaky, and a little on the hot end of the spectrum for me, but not overwhelming. The formidable brown sugary sweetness of regular Mom Jeans is still present, but subdued by the oak. Some roasted malt and chocolate notes come up to the same level as the brown sugar.

Exceptionally smooth, with only a touch of remaining carbonation. It's quite a bit thinner than the texture of regular Mom Jeans, but also benefits from being much dryer than regular.

    --

I have to note, since most folks here know what this was aged on, neither of us really got any maple whatsoever (if they're using Ohio maple then that explains it). Also, discerning between the spice of oak and booze, or whether there is a presence of chili pepper was a difficult exercise in splitting hairs. So I didn't really detect any of the special additional ingredients that were added to the aging.

Either way, for those of you that love BA beers, I can see this being a scrumptious treat. Plus, with the limited stock, it sounds like trade value is getting up there, if this isn't your kind of beer.

I also cracked open my BA Mom Jeans tonight. I suck at transposing flavors to words, but it was really, really good. Definitely never missing a BA release from these guys if this is what I can expect.

I was talking to one owner at the SoE canning and he mentioned expansion in the works. They have new fermenters planned which will increase capacity of course... Then there was talk about other stuffs as well, such as land and parking.

In the end that is all that really matters. Do you like it and would you go get more, even if it meant waiting in line in 30 degree weather. Looking forward to opening mine. Thanks for the review.
