Ah, I see, that makes sense. We've got a little on and off city and highway switches to take care of before we're on 71.

I think there needs to be either a separate thread for reasonable Hoof discussion or a new Hoof Hearted Fanboy safe space thread.

So are you suggesting that I'm being disingenuous when I said that I really enjoyed the Vic Secret? And yeah, I realize that most (not all) people think that it tastes better after a few weeks -- that doesn't mean that it's "unfinished" or that it was brewed poorly.

I don't get this talk about having to wait any more time than it takes to either pop the cap on a can fresh off the pallet, or to drive where you are going post-can pick up, and pop the cap on a can.

Since they cut down to half a case, and I'm a sad guy with no mules, have I come back with anything that lasted more than two weeks? No?

Anyway, as always, I'll take cans from people who aren't digging it, or are buying it just to trade it and failing. I enjoy drinking it!

    ;-)

    Isn't that the truth!

I cracked my last can of South of Eleven last night that I think @RyanMcFly1985 gave me and it was probably the best HH beer I've had, or at least tied with B1 of Konkey Dong. I previously would drink all of their beers fresh, but after having that SoE after 3 weeks, I won't be in a hurry to drink their beers when I get them.

    I'm crying.

I think I need to drink the whole growler of Konkey Dong I have before 8 pm to cheer myself up.

Anyone know if I Should fridge age or cellar age my EWS? I don't have a lot of experience aging IPAs

Fridge, it will cause the yeast and sediment to cold crash

Basically, think of the can as a brite tank and your refrigerator as a glycol chiller.

Then repeat the catchy slogan - "It's not finished beer. It's Digiorno."

I heard to get the most out of the cans, you have to open your haul and leave them outside to collect wild yeast, then blend them all together in a growler and seal for another 3 more weeks in a cellar. After that, the beers come out great.

I'm going to give a legitimate reply to the past few pages of "debate" and try to be as objective as I can in the process (see: probably offend everyone, have six "_____ quoted your post" notifications next time I log-in to BA).

1.) Hoof's IPAs have become far too similar lately. They're not the same beer, but they're just way too close and leave a lot to be desired. I think they're all good, but I want some variety. The biggest example of this is the latest batch of South of Eleven. That beer was AWESOME the first couple batches I had it... now it looks and tastes extremely similar to the latest batches of Blabe, Konkey, etc. I hope this ends soon because I appreciate different IPA styles.

2.) The "they're selling an unfinished product zomg!!!" rhetoric is stupid. You'll buy a barrel-aged stout for $18 that you'll sit on for 10 months to reach its optimum drinking-level but two weeks for an IPA to MAYBE go from like a 4.1 to a 4.25 is reprehensible? Please. Not to mention the fact that the "two week enhancement" is relatively debatable, and most likely not intentional.

3.) Copyrights? Come on, guys. If Nintendo wants to send a C&D to Hoof, they will, and Hoof will stop (I would presume). That's really all there is to it. Until then, is it necessary for any of US to make a big deal out of it? I highly doubt any of us are personally offended by Hoof using Nintendo's likeness.

Conclusion: Hoof does some good things and some bad things right now (imagine that). They're not the best brewery in the country, obviously. I think they're pretty good and I'm happy to have them in central Ohio. You guys should all shake hands and enjoy a glass of lovely IPA together... cloudy or clear- user preference.

Honestly, there's not a lot to argue with, but, South of Eleven was drastically different from Blabe for me. Blabe being more bitter, astringent (not in a bad way, but maybe more West coast influence than others), and a bit thinner. SoE was almost jammy, and creamy.

But I do agree with the comparison to KD. I'd like to do a side by side, but still I think KD was bigger on pineapple than SoE.

I am getting a little "hoofed out" myself with their IPA's... While I still enjoy them, I don't get excited for those releases much anymore. I just like going to see our friends and hanging out for a few hours. All the IPA's have the same minimal malt profile and whatever the hop flavor of the day is. Which is fine, but it would be nice to dump a little specialty malt in once and a while! I am excited for the JO collab and heard they will be doing more sours and stuff going into summer, so those should be good. I wouldn't care to not see Kong, SoE, Blabe and the EWS stuff for a few months though, honestly! I have a fridge full of these releases and when I go from one to another they are not that different from one another, so it does get a bit boring.

Besides visiting them daily what is the best way to stay up with what's on tap at the Brewpub? I want to make a growler run but I'm from out of town.

This. I actually think it's pretty up to date, sometimes more so than their FB. I wish more businesses would keep up with their websites like this. But give them a year and I'm sure they'll get lazy like the rest of them.

I think you can tell by ticket sales alone that it is drastically decreasing in demand with each release. The last release I attended didn't even sell out. I do think the coffee release will be bigger mainly because it will be a fresh new style for them. I can't see anything selling out other than KD or Dragonsaddle though.

The coffee stout will be a sold out event because it's a stout by Jackie Os and everyone knows Brad can make a great fucking beer, especially stouts.
