I’m planning on brewing a Citra/Amarillo ipa that is bittered with Columbus. I plan to only use the Columbus for the 60min boil. And do some late additions and big dry hop with the Citra/Amarillo. Wondering if i should do 50/50 split on the Citra/Amarillo or A 3:1 ratio.
“Wondering if i should do 50/50 split on the Citra/Amarillo or A 3:1 ratio.” It really depends on what you want from this beer. It has been my consistent experience that Citra is a very powerful hop while in comparison Amarillo is much less potent. If you are looking for an ‘equal’ expression of flavor from the two hops I would suggest that you use more Amarillo than Citra. I noted you mentioned “3:1” which might be a good ratio to achieve an ‘equal’ expression; 3 times Amarillo to the 1 of Citra. Cheers!
Columbus is a go-to for my IPA's in late/dry hop additions. Love the dankness it offers and flavor profile along with an English style yeast.
