Doubt it, they seem to do a lot of weeks with a single release followed by multiple. Loophole would of been that way but they held onto Ryes which was canned the week before. Its probably a big batch.

I have not bought an IPA beer from this brewery in a long time but purchased Cosmic Fountain recently. Just curious about the following because it seems like there are quite a few people on here who purchase every release. Would you consider Cosmic typcal of their DIPA beers? Or would you say this is an outlier? This is so sweet that I almost hesitate to call it beer. No way I would try another release unless they are not normally this sweet.

It's pretty much in the realm of other HB releases. Lactose plays a huge factor in that.

I think it's sweeter than normal, but I also find most mosaic beers to be very sweet. Their other offerings are still on the sweet side though.

I don't believe Cosmic Fountain had lactose in it.

In regards to their other DIPA offerings, they're all pretty similar. It just depends on what hops they are using, and what those hops have to offer, and if you like them. All of their DIPAs are 7.5%, so I'd assume every one is the same mash bill, or recipe, just hopped differently.

Their hazy beers all range from "this is excellent and would be world class if it was just a little less sweet" to basically instant diabetes.

I don't believe they make any hazy beers without lactose.

It's normal. This has fairly subdued hops compared to some with more bitter, citrusy feel that I would equate to being "louder". Perhaps this makes the sweetness stand out more since it doesn't have as high of an acidic feel to balance it out. That being said, I've been an every release guy and I'm just burning out on the syrup/lactose/sweetness from these.

If this is true, it would blow me away. I pick up on lactose right away when it's used in IPA's, and I tend to not enjoy them in the slightest. I definitely get it in their milkshake IPA styles, but in their "normal" DIPA offerings, I don't at all.

I'm not saying they don't, but they'll be the only brewery who found the perfect amount of lactose in their IPA's for me.

that's why Tavern Cut remains their best.

i just don't see the rationale for adding lactose to every beer. the best examples of this style provide an added richness and depth to the hops which are being used.

    why keep muddling the flavor?

Are you certain that Tavern Cut doesn't have it in it? I suspect it has it.

I don't pick up on any lactose in Tavern Cut, Neon Green Relish, Double Grid, Normalize The Signal, Green Moss, Unlicensed Nuclear Accelerator, etc.

Can confirm that all of their IPAs in fact have lactose. Not that anybody cares, I'll just reiterate that I'm blown away by this, since I can't taste even a hint of it. I guess I can't wave my "I don't care much for lactose IPAs" flag anymore :sunglasses:

How did you confirm just curious? I've heard the brewer talk about substituting the usual lactose for wheat in a certain beer, which for me confirmed their usual 7.5% hazy ipa base contains lactose.

I sent them a message on Twitter asking if the non-milkshake IPA's contain lactose. To which they replied, "They do. Not a whole lot."
