Hop Butcher (2020)

That good is subjective. It isn't a world beater. As a person who has loved HB but hasn't had anything from them for 2 months, DG came off as too sweet to enjoy. Maybe HB is like sours where you have to let your palate warm up after a couple of sips to adjust, I just sampled the Double Beezer while drinking the DG and immediately wished I had the less syrupy beer. Double Beez is closer in the vein of the recent HA stuff or TG than HB.

tavern cut is even better than i remember. reaks of peachs and grapefruit, looks like juice.

 

Good to hear as it’s in my top 3 from them. Cracked my last Blizzard and it’s phenomenal. Pure juice saturation with no hop chunks at the bottom of the glass. Held up very nicely.

 

I hope this serves as a warning. I picked up Tavern Cut and Ribbit today. Tavern Cut was as awesome as I remembered. Wish I would have skipped Ribbit. It’s not terrible, but the added vanilla almost makes this undrinkable for me. It’s way too sweet and you lose most of the hop bitterness.

Being a “milkshake” IPA, I was somewhat prepared, but I could barely finish my 16oz can. It’s just way too sweet and doesn’t really have enough going for it to warrant the price. If you can get a draft pour before purchasing, please do. If not, maybe just double down on the Tavern Cut and take my word for it. Almost a drain pour for me

 

Blizzard was remarkably good.

Tavern Cut is insane. The best HB in a long time. Super saturated. It will be amazing in 10 days

 

Feel like repeating others and bringing nothing new to the discussion since I'm drinking a Tavern Cut right now because yeah, it's delicious. This is maybe the 5th or 6th beer I've tried from Hop Butcher but it's my favorite so far.

 

Damn I’ve loaded up on HB the last few weeks that I took a week off this week...I guess I’m missing out on Tavern Cut!

 

Once I’ve had a HB beer, I try not to go back for a repeat. Too many other options out there I’ve not had. I generally like HB, but the syrupy sweetness can be a bit much. I did really enjoy Lord Octopus. For some reason, that didn’t seem like the usual sugar bomb.

I am the opposite. I keep picking up hop butcher every week, even if I've had one of the releases 4 times before. They never disappoint. Tavern Cut is fantastic.

 

They aren't.

 

Anyone have Live from Chicago? Heard is went pretty quick as was limited and may have been sold in two packs?
