Hop City Birmingham

no definite info, but i get the feeling that they are waiting on the container size law to pass. let's hope we can get it passed.

 

Any new info on Birmingham's Hop City? Their web-site still just says "opening soon."

 

You mean "the container size bill advocated by Free The Hops that was signed into law by the governor and comes into effect on 1 August" - that law?

 

Check out this Article...We were all set to open, inspections passed, good to go, and the ABC board busted in with GUNS DRAWN and took $7000 worth of "homebrew" equipment...(some of which you can buy at Walmart!)

Any news on whether Hop City will have their soft opening this week? I believe I read in a different thread that they're hoping to maybe open tomorrow if they can get their license situation resolved? I'm in town on business this week and will hit them up if they're open.

 

twitter sez thursday. not sure if that's a soft opening or real opening kind of thing.

 

they had their soft opening today, and it is an awesome store. cheap samples (2-3 ounce pours for a dollar or so) of anything off the growler wall (64 taps!), bottles of maybe everything available locally, and a helpful staff. very welcome addition to bham. i will certainly be a regular.

 

went by the store today. It's pretty spectacular already, and they aren't really open yet!
